Hinge is the one that sticks out here. Clearly a retain IMO and wonder what the hold up is? Or does he get traded back to QLD..Billy Frampton
Elliot Himmelberg
Mitch Hinge
James Rowe
Brett Turner
James Borlase
Tariek Newchurch
Ben Davis
Is it simply a case of wait and see who we bring in and how much for, and then Hinge can have what’s left over? He’s done absolutely nothing to suggest they won’t give him a contract.Hinge is the one that sticks out here. Clearly a retain IMO and wonder what the hold up is? Or does he get traded back to QLD..
Not sure....there would have to be a LOT left over currently. I am a little intrigued with this one as he is a very solid 15-22 type player on the team IMO and definitely up to AFL standard, certainly compared to Rowe, Davis, Frampton, Borlase etcIs it simply a case of wait and see who we bring in and how much for, and then Hinge can have what’s left over? Worrell was pick 28 in 2019 (ie a mid 2nd round pick).I also question whether Worrell will be at the club next year. If we are going elite talent we need to give up draft capital and/or players. His handful of games (I assume) to finish this season against generally lowly competition see his stocks currently looking promising. With probable future captain Doedee having a grasp on 3rd tall and future F/S joining us in a similar role I just wonder whether Josh will be part of a trade over coming months.
I’m sure we’re looking for a Crouch trade. I think if the right offer came for McAsey we’d take it. I’d suspect we’d be enquiring as to whether Brown would like to finish his contract at a team that might give him senior football. You would have to assume that we're going to trade some "in-contract" players
There is a LOT reportedly set aside for a couple players (Rankine, potentially JHF), tbh I really don’t know but one it comes to those 18th-22nd picked players there’s usually a lot of moving parts involved in getting their deals done so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s one that’s going to wait until the end of trade period to finalise. Not sure....there would have to be a LOT left over currently. I’ve said this a million times but if you look at recent trade history, players are almost never traded when bringing across a “big fish”. Unless he requests a trade I’d be very surprised if he goes.I also question whether Worrell will be at the club next year. If Himm goes to freo as rumoured.. what back up kpf do we have?..Why? Seems miles off it and it can't be talent that's making him barely SANFL worthy. Another year like 2022 and we get nothing for him at all.
why's that? You would have to assume that we're going to trade some "in-contract" players
What possible reason is there to delist Borlase? He's a minimum wage player who isn't taking a list spot. You might as well delist Boyle. He could very well be delisted, given the (overly belated) emergence of Worrell. There's pretty much no chance of him ever being selected at AFL level (barring a horrendous injury run), so why bother keeping him on the list?
The counter arguments is that he's a Cat B rookie, so retaining him costs us nothing in terms of the list mathematics. I'm not sure that's a strong enough argument if they don't ever have any intention of playing him.
In any case, it's not the worst suggestion in LL's post. Re-signing Frampton is champagne comedy.

The only reason would be if we think MM or Keeler are making it to the rookie draft (which they aren’t)What possible reason is there to delist Borlase? He's a minimum wage player who isn't taking a list spot. You might as well delist Boyle.
Look - I guess that would be a reason ...The only reason would be if we think MM or Keeler are making it to the rookie draft (which they aren’t)
That solely depends on whether list management see an AFL player in Borlase doesn't it? It's a list spot that can be used on a youngster they think will play AFL at some point. What possible reason is there to delist Borlase? He's a minimum wage player who isn't taking a list spot. with Borlase being a Cat B, he isn't really using up a list spot ?That solely depends on whether list management see an AFL player in Borlase doesn't it? It's a list spot that can be used on a youngster they think will play AFL at some point.
Do you think he's a future AFL player?
Have to say I'm not seeing it.
What's the point in keeping him, if they're never going to play him? Charity isn't a good enough reason. What possible reason is there to delist Borlase? He's a minimum wage player who isn't taking a list spot. You might as well delist Boyle.
He's a Cat B rookie, so the list mathematics is irrelevant - but I agree with everything else you've written here. That solely depends on whether list management see an AFL player in Borlase doesn't it? It's a list spot that can be used on a youngster they think will play AFL at some point.

So why not an Irish Gaelic footballer or similar that "may" play AFL instead?with Borlase being a Cat B, he isn't really using up a list spot ?
I don't think he is afl quality but I think the club need to also be able to fill an sanfl side which he is able to do cheaply
Absolutely if we have someone lined up. If we don’t though it’s better for our SANFL sides development if we keep him on.So why not an Irish Gaelic footballer or similar that "may" play AFL instead?
I think the club has given up on the Irish footballer idea.So why not an Irish Gaelic footballer or similar that "may" play AFL instead?
I really like Hinge. I'd also be happy for him to go and get a 3 year deal somewhere else. Hope his body holds up.Hinge is the one that sticks out here. Clearly a retain IMO and wonder what the hold up is? Or does he get traded back to QLD..
Somewhere else? Why would we get rid of him. He’s clearly a best 22 type.I really like Hinge. I'd also be happy for him to go and get a 3 year deal somewhere else. Hope his body holds up.
Is like to keep him also. But I wouldn't begrudge him for leaving for a longer, better deal.Somewhere else? Why would we get rid of him. He’s clearly a best 22 type.
Prefer him to Hamill.
I'd be ecstatic with any two out of the fourAll righty, so we're gonna bring in Rankine, Elijah Hollands, JHF and Phillipou? Sounds good to me!
I don't think you can trade rookies, so he probably needs to be upgraded to the main list first. On Borlase, he's improving rapidly, so there's that at least.
Not sure where he fits at AFL level, doesn't seem quick enough or aerial enough for third tall defender, not tall enough for key defender. May be a big bodied mid, since he seems to have a decent tank and decent skills, just not sure he's good at getting high disposals and whether he'll be quick enough for that role.
I'd keep him on for another year, just to see where he ends up since it doesnt cost much and if we think he might have AFL potential but not B grade or higher, try and trade him to the power, since they'll prolly be starting a rebuild then and would love a favourite son. Even if we get a pick in say the 40's that's a reasonable upgrade on a cat b rookie (esp if we get some more like this and can bundle to get points to get up higher). If we think he's B grade or better, on to the main list he goes.
