Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

I'm coming around to Curtin in a big way.Have been in the Watson camp all year, but I think our inability to get another key defender mean Curtin fits a need as well as the obvious flexibility upside.
Same. I'm still on the Wiz train, but these Curtin types are so hard to find. Scary to think what he could be at 22.

That's why WC will take him. Pick 1 or pick 2, doesn't matter.

Was originally on the Curtin train, then switched to Duursma/Watson, now thinking Curtin again.

Will be happy with any of those 3 really.

I'll be content with McKercher too, even if I think we don't really need him and is my least preferred out of the 4. Will back the club if they go him.

Tied with, from same episode “I’ve got the prescription for you doctor….another hot beef injection”.

I think I saw a movie once where that line was used in a very different context...

No bias. No spin. Say it how it is.
I was with you until you used the phrase say it how it is. There are things that make me disengage and that’s one of them up there with pronouns in peoples bio. It’s your opinion it’s not how it is. Things are subjective. And fluid. And ultimately our opinion will end up being whatever they do on draft night. We are all malleable. But it’s a fun ride until then.

Ashton Moir - I have read people describing him as a top 10 talent without the work ethic.
Duursma level forward craft. Late pick or rookie.

He has dropped down the order so much over the course of the year, he was looking like a top 5 pick at one point. Elite kicking off both feet is a rare skill.

Is he lazy? I'd read he was dealing with a hip issue this year. Might have even seen the effects of it at 0:25 in that video.

I honestly don’t know anything about him. Just watching that clip - he looks amazing!

I’d love to take a punt on him w a late pick. Huge upside. Genuine match winning ability.

The more ive seen of Curtin the more i like. I think his potential upside is massive and could play anywhere for us. A strong outlet target anywhere around the ground is invaluable and I think Curtin can provide a really strong focal point either down back, up forward basically anywhere. I was thinking Caddy before as our first pick but im now leading much towards Curtin. He already has a strong frame and looks like he would be ready to play Round 1 and make an impact. The only question mark is the go home factor. Would love to know how he feels about moving interstate versus preferring to stay home in WA. Its difficult to know for sure one way or the other and things can change over time, but if he is open to moving interstate and playing for us I would love to him see him playing for the Hawks.

Good strategic murmurings. Both the Dee's and Bulldogs are interested in Sanders. He is a good player and worth consideration at Pick 5 (assuming Walter bid). We still need to build a better and deeper midfield. Sanders is a reliable ball getter and strong in the contest. A reasonable comparison for me is Callan Ward or Luke Parker.

Anyway, suggesting Sanders, could bring an anxiuos Dees to the trade table with offers that may appeal. Let's say our Pick 5 for their Pick 7 plus the Dees Future 1st and 2nd rounders. in this scenario Pick 7 would be Curtain in my view. As for the Bulldogs I'm sure they will pay a decent price as well. Not sure what they hold this year and next.

If things remain unchanged my top 3 at Pick 5 would be Duursma, Curtain then Sanders. This assumes Reid and McCercher are gone.

I’d be lying if I said I knew much about him apart from the fact he was rated really high earlier in the piece.

But dayummm. They are some quality highlights. Would be stoked if we could nab him somehow.

Too soon at 4. More likely if we trade down into the 6-8 range. (or up to 1 and then back in for Geelong's #8!)
A couple of take-aways from the MM interview on the Talking Hawks podcast:
  • We're not looking to trade down, fully preparing to take pick 4 to the draft.
  • Group of 5 players likely to be available at our pick that we are considering: Duursma, Curtin, McKercher, Watson and one more (he didn't mention who it was, but I'd guess it's either Sanders or Caddy).

Dogs and Dees both have offers at the ready for Pick 4 on draft night.
