Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

North need to trade up to get pick 1 if we are any chance of drafting my preferred selection in McKercher.

Strange what North are planing because they seemed stacked for mods so if they were left with picks 2 & 3 you would have thought Curtin and Duursma but they look set on McKercher

If we miss on McKercher, why would we look at Curtin before Watson? We need a key defender before a small forward in my view

Sam making it work at 180cm is still completely different to Watson making it work at 170cm.

Regardless, going back to the point this is all in response to - that Watson's height is a strength, or at least not a limitation or a weakness. It clearly is because he needs to be that much better to compete at the same level.
Let's stop arguing about this. I don't know who said Watson's height is a strength, but it wasn't me. I don't agree with you about Watson being a lesser prospect, let's move on.

It makes me so annoyed reading this. One, because the clueless John Ralph's article is titled 'The List Manager', and Two because North already have a crop of talent on the list to build around. The AFL didn't wait to see how their already designed compensation system (getting the best picks for finishing at the bottom) would play out before topping them up with further picks on top of their pick 2, and McKay compo pick 3 this year to go on top of the talent they already have developing. To think the headline from the AFL's head 'writer' this season (who supports North mind you) was that Hawthorn were rorting the system for merely running a meticulously planned rebuild with no AFL handouts (who have now had to degrade a spot on the draft mind you), while the actual story should be how do rebuilding clubs who play by the rules compete with sides that get AFL handouts to get talent they don't deserve, or the Suns, Swans etc who have academy players on tap to get more high end talent than others clubs can acquire. What a joke.

The system has no balance whatsoever, but we have to deal with it if we are to succeed again.

Jeez - listing 'size' as an improvement on Watson is rough. It's not like he can grow taller in the gym.
No but I’m pretty sure he would still have a little more natural growth left in him

Is he still 170cm? May now be a couple cm taller and perhaps 2-3 more cm’s of growth. If he could get to at least 175 it would change drastically for him IMO. Conversely he may be another Caleb Daniel who was pretty much done by age 18

Righto Ralphy ya muppet - everyone knows Eagles are holding out because Norf are offering unders- surprise surprise the beggers want something for nothing again …

If they actually pony up and offer pick 2/3 and another top 8 pick the deal will get done… otherwise Weagles just take Reid.. if I was Reid I’d rather go instate than play for a bunch of whinging ****s anyway

You'd like to think he would - but I was waiting on that final growth spurt from when I was about 16 onwards - and still waiting on it to this day.

Totally agree about things out of being out of our control and we will have to navigate them. But what I can't fathom is that we have to deal with the inequality of equalization favouring certain clubs, yet the spotlight was shined on our club this year as if we were rorting the system unfairly for merely rebuilding. We didn't even finish bottom 2, and probably have already started our ascent up the mount again from next year onwards, compared to the terrible sides in the past our rebuild was never going to take so long but was made out we were going to be a blight on the competition, yet beat the two grand finalists. The AFL doesn't allow criticism of academies and AFL policies etc in media, but were happy for their lead writer to take pot shots all year at us for apparently 'not trying to win' this year. Was/is garbage.

The 'Beggars have asked for a fixture change next year.

All of their opposition teams on the day to be picked from the AusKickers lists.
