Is he slow? Doesnt look it on the tape, seems to break away from stoppage and link up well enough, but I dont know what he tested at the combine so am asking.

Don't know about the testing but he certainly isn't pacy. Easy for these dominant under 18s to look faster than they are playing in their age group. Looks a non-dynamic ball getter to me.

I think he's far more dynamic than Sparrow. Sparrow looks like he's running in mud and has a 5 inch vertical.

His kicking is my main issue. Loves a mung. We are full in that department.

Quite possibly but I wouldn't think 'slightly more dynamic than Sparrow' is exactly what we'd want to go for in a top 10 pick.

FWIW, this is ESPN's write up following combine:

Sanders could not have done more in his junior career, walking out a Larke Medallist, State Champion with the Allies and two-time Talent League premier with the Sandy Dragons. Questions remain of his ball use and he lacks elite burst from stoppage, but Sanders is the best contested midfielder in the pool.

Would happily trade Sparrow. Overrated by our supporters imo. And he's hardly a goal kicking threat as a half forward.

Thought he played slightly better in the finals than his home and away form but you can only keep playing a player like him getting 14 fairly ineffective touches for so long. His spot should certainly be one we're looking at our top draftee to fill.

Agreed. Would much prefer someone like Jack Billings fulfilling that role.

Petty is as good as gone in 2025 when he is a free agent. Either that or his foot is cooked and he will become the next iteration of Tmac.
I think we'll get a mature gun tall forward, this time next year. Just a gut feel.

The time would be right for this trade, if he wants it, next year.

We need a midfielder who can hit a target in the corridor, Daicos role.

If not we will continue to bomb it down the line/inside 50
We need more than one Mid, who can hit targets. imv. Just not soft outside mids.
They must be able to handle heavy going.

I don’t, if we spent all week doing nothing but haggle over Retugolea, the melts would be real
I think the cats are into the draft this time around.

And chasing a catters household name is good i reckon. Lord.

Are there any fringe on-ballers in need of a new home?

With Jordon, Dunstan and Harmes gone, our midfield depth is basically just Woewodin Jr.

It would be good to get some mature bodies so we have some options if we get hit with injuries next year. Especially with there being a cloud over Gus, and there being no certainties on what condition Clarry will be in next year.

I like Sparrow. Defensive mid with a long leg on him. Not a star but a large reason that Harmes was forced out. If we hit with a high end mid in the draft though, his midfield spot could be questioned in 2 seasons time but he’s good for now.

He's not really a mid tho is he? Maybe 7th or 8th in line as a mid?

Heard on SEN this evening (from a reporter, not a rando caller but didn’t catch who it was) that the talk is we’re trying to get ahead of the Bulldogs’ pick because we rate Nick Watson. No idea if it’s accurate, make of it what you will.

My melt meter is rising.
