Lol coming from you it doesnt mean much, youve been trying to trade everyone lol. Theres no way we would trade May unless the club doesnt think they can compete anymore, along with Max he is the most irreplaceable player on our list and no one contributes to winning more.

Do you think we could compete without Petty next year if he was traded? With the way things currently stand with Oliver too?

Well if ur assuming Clarry doesnt get his **** together and doesnt get back to his best and Petty is traded then with both of those along with our lack of midifield depth and lack of creativity in the coaching department i dont think its likely that wed compete without Clarry and Petty. I think we'd need to see some serious improvement from a whole lot of players and wed have to get back to moving the ball like we did in 2021. So do i think we could compete, yes its possible, do i think its likely, no i dont.

My thoughts exactly. So then it becomes a question of would you trade May while you can get something good, or do we believe we can reload in 2025 and May will still be as good as he is now?

I think we will drop off next year and finish in the 6-10 range.

Unknown what condition Gus and Clarry will be in next year. Melksham is unlikely to play. McAdam and Fullarton doesn't replace the quality that we lost.

Too many of our key pillars (Gawn and May) are just old. They'll either miss games with niggling injuries or just be far off their best.

The players who have yet to debut are unlikely to come in and be difference makers. Let's be real, Laurie has had 3 years of seasoning in the VFL and is putrid.

I am not holding my breath for Petty. Players rarely get better after a lisfranc injury. He played more bad games than good this year. I think he is being overrated as he had a purple patch with his last two games being played agaisnt garbage teams.

Agree with all that. (except Petty being overrated, think hes pretty good, but I am worried about the foot)

That is why you would potentially look at trading May. Its not cause I dont like him and dont think hes good, im just not sure he will be as good as he is now by the time we are ready to compete next. Im not saying we are 10 years away, but it could be in 3 years. May will drop off in that time.

If we think we will compete in the next two years you keep him, if we dont you should look at trading him.

I am not against the idea, but I would keep May, and have JVR be his understudy at Full Back for a year or two.

JVR just seems like a natural footballer and is competitive enough that he will succeed in just about any position on the field. His field kicking will also be a huge asset.

(this is provided that the club has faith in Jefferson/Petty/whoever they draft)

Is JVR that good a field kick? Or is he a good set shot?

I think its more the later.

We may as well pack up if we don't think we're competing next year. Would be criminal to reload with Max the age he is, amongst others.

Then you keep May. Im not going to get into an argument over it. Just explaining my train of thought.

I hear you but the club isn't gonna do that, if we were to trade May and Petty we may as well trade Trac and everyone over 26 except a few leaders like Gawn and Viney. Im sure there's many of us thinking the club should do diff stuff than what they are doing, hell i def wouldve used those 2nd round picks or traded one for Mcadam rather than giving them away and now having to trade future picks for him. List management is a lot of things and one of those is fairly consistent in their dont make many moves type approach and just shuffle around the edges while hoping improvement comes from within.

So given that approach do you rly think theres any chance the club would trade May? I think its 0% chance and i certainly dont want them to, id like them to be more active in certain areas but id also like to keep a team that can possibly compete next yr, we only have another season or 2 left where thats possible. A rebuild is likely not far away and while im very critical of the list management im critical that they arent bringing in players or making the most of our draft assets not of them not trading away our best players.

I don't think they will, I think Goody still thinks we can compete, just giving reasons for why you could consider it.

Heard May very unhappy with how the Oliver situation has been handled. Clarry may have a few creditors amongst the playing group.

Amazing how many times rubbish fake messages have been spread around the nuffy corners of social media yet some people still somehow get sucked in...

We are ****ed next sesson

  • May and Petty traded
  • Oliver unwell
  • Angus concussion issues
  • Collingwood Bigfooty fans scoping Petracca
  • No midfield depth
  • Gawn one injury away from retirement with **** all depth
  • Tmac and Brown our star forwards
  • Still no forward coach

Petty May be the best sell high player in the AFL. I would move him for cap space and a first rounder and Fogarty. ASAP.

He's getting offered a lot, but we're not. McAdam & 14 for Petty doesn't help us at all. We're only taking two players in the draft & we have 6 & 11. No guarantees someone takes 11 & 14 for a higher pick and no way we compete without Petty forward.

There's no sell high.

Also, Petty is underrated in general. Clearly rated very highly by Adelaide, but they're trying to send us picks as if they don't rate him. Justin Reid seems like a dude that likes to smell toilet bowls and read the future based on the smell of someone's else's shit.

Trade week is falling apart, it's time to crack each others heads open and feast on the goo inside

The way I see it with Petty is if Adelaide offered him the same thing in two years when he's a Free Agent we'd be getting first round compo anyway. This year that'd be 14. So if they're that keen on him then we can get two more years of service out of him and still get a similar pick. Even better if we fall off a cliff :rainbow:

Surely we just go all in and offer JUH 1.5m x 10 years now.

Trade Petty and flick that compo + F1 to bulldogs

Draft O Sullivan at 6 and Wilson at 11

Key forwards / key backs and outside runner sorted

Definitely can't see a long term deal hurting the Melbourne Football Club.

Trade news will go quiet over weekend while behind the scenes dealing continues.

Hopefully a shit load of action come Monday morning
