It will slide out to #22 odd
I reckon this is one year that after around the first ten picks, it seems bit of a raffle....so you'll still potentially get some good value at that selection. So our pick could be more needs based rather than the 'best available', depending on who we pick up during the trade period.

Lance is a introvert hardly speaks and will not interview well
I spoken to him numerous times over last two years but his team mates even joke about it if he evens talks to them
He is a incredible talent but has things that need a lot of work
He has a temper on the field and can be undisciplined.
The professional side of the game is where his biggest learnings are needed
Has never been in weight room has avoided like the plague that will need to change
Then the stuff all professional hate ice baths looking after your body
But that will come with time
But honestly cant see any interstate club drafting him after interviewing him
Cant see him coping away from Perth, he is so so introverted the adjustment will be so hard for him
WCE only have Freo to worry about him
He would be close to quickest player in the AFL and his skills are sublime
and he has good defensive pressure i see him becoming a wingman eventually
Freo or Wce whoever get him will need to put a lot of time into him he is the type that will be on the list for a couple of years before debuting
I think Wce will get him as i think Freo would not use pick 21 on him

This is a post on the draft board that might be interesting for a few of the Lance Collard fans in this thread. Seems like he could be a good fit for us on field, but it seems like it would be quite a big risk for us to take.

Had some issues re needing to be around family etc during the champs I heard too. Its a high risk, high reward pick. His speed and fwd smarts is exactly what we lack up forward with Mots and Owies etc on the slower end of small fwds.

Would love the club to back ourselves in and take him but understand that the risk may be too high at a pick in the 20s.

Awesome service Bletch. I don't have to listen. Gracias.

Might be the year to trade up. It's not deep as many think it is
How deep do the 'many' believe the draft to be?

Talk regarding draft depth is always biased towards players who people believe are 'proven' talent, which is a flawed concept whilst players are still developing. We'll be trading up for pick security rather than an increase in talent and we still might not get the pick right. Who's the 'Harry Sheezel' for this year? Even that would have taken pick 3 to accomplish - I just don't see it.

C'mon Austin. Turn 72 into some 10 year gold.
Think we'll be doing everything possible to get 3-4 picks inside about 35. The drop off in talent after that is quite significant imo.

Would still like to try and get into the top 10 if Watson or O'Sullivan slide outside the top 6-7.

I think the chances of Carlton getting a top 10 pick are slim to none.
We will be doing well just to get one more pick inside 35.

Imagine what those young men were thinking Friday night at the game!
what's the point of hanging around next year playing in front of 32k at marvel?

The only chance for a top 10 is really from the Dogs which is expected to go to GCS for pick 4. They'll be happy to offload that for whatever ends up working best for them in terms of points and they've got another crop of academy kids next year they'll be looking for points for too with future picks.

Fisher and Dow should get us decent picks. hopefully around 35-45 which we could then package up or trade our first back a few spots to end up with 3 inside 35.

Theres certainly possibilities around both but our draft hand is definitely quite ordinary as it is after our incredible turnaround this second half of the year.

I’m not so optimistic.

3 picks inside 35 is just scraping the surface of optimism. I'm still hoping Mckercher gets caught distributing Methamphetamine like Walter White to somehow end up sliding to us at pick 18.

Optimistic and creative.

I’m starting to think you’re smoking something!

This draft has forever cured me of declaring the quality of a draft group.

Six months out, this was a “generational group”. It has turned out to be a big flop.

I readily concede there will be some superb “value” picks in the draft, and in a couple of years we will be lauding some largely unsung stars. Good luck identifying them. Yet, I look at the bankable players in the draft and realistically they do not go beyond 10. It is also fair to say I have reservations regarding some of the proposed top 10. I have little doubt revision in coming years will have a couple of players outside the first couple of rounds lauded as the top performers.

I have a “list” of about 10 value prospects who I believe could elevate with some traits I have seen. Fair to say that almost all of that list also have significant questions which could just as easily have them as failures. This draft is “scary” …caveat emptor.

I agree with all of that which is precisely why I think we should 'stick fat' in regards to our first rounders. The first 9 players are good on paper but there could still be disappointments even in that lot. I'm all for trading up with lower picks if we think we need to trump a side who has the same idea as us but trading into the top nine or ten players will be too expensive and might even flop.
