What's the Weiters and Young don't get on thing all about?
No Idea but it's appears to be 'a thing'. Witnessed it with my own eyes (I think it was Rd 18 vs Eagles).

Young went up to console (or apologise) to Weiters after a goal through went against him, put a hand on his shoulder, and Weiters appeared to angrily pull his shoulder away in a 'dont touch me' type way.

please......

Is anyone else thinking that Geelong are willing to trade pick 8 because they are not interested in using it on a key defender eg.OSullivan.

Geelong has the last pick in the top tier of players. I think if OSullivan is the last player to be taken in that top tier geelong will trade on draft night because they don’t want a key defender.

I wonder if the reason for our rumoured interest in Caddy is due to the quality small/med fwds available at the end of next season? Get in a 3rd tall option and leave ourselves able to make a play at one of this lot...

Stengle (UFA), Ryan, Ainsworth, Hayward, Perkins, Zurhaar, Cumberland, Butler

Yes it is. But there's also a reason he was dropped in finals and it's because he wasn't able to create or find space with the increased pressure. He's limited in terms of his athleticism along with others in our mix.

We need to add points of difference to our forward group and Austin has also said as much
Owies wasn't the only one struggling to kick goals mind you.

He's just the easiest scapegoat....

Scapegoat for what? We won the game he played vs Melbourne and he got dropped for the Prelim

Owies and others are limited footballers on our list who get the best out of themselves because they battle and work hard. But ultimately they need replacing given it's still a weak point on our list. That's clear to see for neutral's and fans alike and Austin has said as much during trade period. We need to add some more weapons up forward to free up H and Charlie and start getting more bang for our buck when our midfield is dominating contested ball.

100% agree

Draft picks after trade period: 22, 28, 70, 78
Headlines aside, Carlton managed to grab 2020 top-10 pick Elijah Hollands, swap a late first-rounder and Zach Fisher for two second round selections, and bank draft points for their 2024 twin father-son prospects, Lucas and Ben Camporeale, during the trade period. That’s a definite improvement without giving up a great deal. Carlton’s list is well positioned across the board but outside run and polish is an area they can look to add to again with their second round choices, ranking 12th in the competition for kick rating and 11th for defensive 50 to inside 50 percentage across the home-and-away season. Versatile dual sportsman Harry DeMattia, who has a burst of speed, great leadership qualities and can be used all over the ground, might be available. Same goes for Tasmanian superboot Arie Schoenmaker, a 194cm defender who can play on a wing, silky draft bolter Tew Jiath and rebounding defender Archie Roberts. Tall and quick midfielder Charlie Edwards is another in the second round range who can give Carlton’s midfield a point-of-difference in time. A developing marking option up forward, like Archer Reid (203cm) or Logan Morris (191cm), would also be a promising addition to their attacking 50 into the future

I find this a bit of a strange analysis of our list and needs.

DeMattia - no thanks. Can get the footy and run but butchers it. Edwards - hell yeah. That’s our type. . Archer Reid - absolutely. Can be all we need/want Pitto and the others to be. Excellent athlete with skills. Know him. Morris - meh. Can catch everything but not sure he brings that run and carry we need.

Plenty of premiership 22s include "limited" footballers....most I would say.

Owies is the least of our problems.

You're conflating the makeup/setup/output of our forward 6 with the efforts/ability of one player.

Bigger issue is getting optimum output from Harry and Charlie.

The SF job becomes much easier when the big blokes are doing their jobs well.

Owies isn't a 'problem', but it's a position that we need to improve. I see him as a bit of a seat warmer to be honest.

Motlop is young and improving, and Durds has been hampered by injury during the past season. I still see Durds as being the best out of the three, and reckon him and Mots could form a pretty handy small forward duo.

I'd still like to see us grab another creative forward like a Collard, Sanchez or even Gothard in the draft this year.

The younger brother of Essendon's Zach is mainly positioned at the other end of the field to his backman sibling, with Archer a key forward who can go into the ruck. His kicking skills are excellent for a player his size and although he didn't have a monster patch of form through the year, he remains a forward/ruck option for clubs searching for players to fill that valuable role.

My initial comment was that all of our small forwards outside of Martin are limited and it hinders our ball movement and fwd efficiency. I have no issue with Owies and I'm certainly not pointing to him as the cause of all our issues up forward like you're making me out to be. I've said from the start of the year that our fwd mix is lacking outside of Charlie and Harry.

Add in better half forwards and they'll deliver the ball to H and Charlies on the lead better, add superior fwd pockets and they'll crumb more goals from the plethora of high balls brought to ground by TDK, Harry and Charlie. Looking at the other top 8 teams we are considerably worse in that department than most of them.

Whether it's Owies, Fogarty, Durdin, Motlop or Cuningham... Imo there are players available in this draft that would provide an upgrade on some of them within 12-24 months. Just as Hollands replaced Obrien this year.

If we do a pick trade, I would expect it to be draft night and to be something like future 1st.plus our earlier pick for something in the early teens.

From the article it seems like Twomey thinks we will take 3 picks.
He mentions other clubs likely to take 1 or 2 and use rookie upgrades to round out the 3.
Guess if we stay with the picks we currently have and with what Austin said about drafting for depth we’d probably get a midfielder and a half forward with our first two picks then another developing tall similar to Lemmey with a later pick.

Not the most exciting draft period but it pays to remember that for a top four team we have the Hollands bros, Motlop, Binns, Durdin, Cowan, Monahan and Duffy coming through.

Absolutely correct. We need someone else to be able to consistently contribute with goals. Motlop was trending that way as the season progressed, really excited to see what he brings next year.

Would've been ideal to land a Bobby Hill type like Collingwood did 12 months earlier.

Later pick could be michael Rudd, cooper trembath or Luke Loyd.
