Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Is anyone else terrified by the prospect of drafting a Tasmanian? If we do any good developing him, he's gone to the new franchise. Even if he's a bust, he's gone to the new franchise.
If the compensation is the greater of 1. A pick equal of the original drafted pick. Or 2. A current fair market price.

In this way, there's no risk if the player is a bust. Likewise, if a pick25 becomes elite, the club is compensated accordingly.

The above reduces the risk for clubs. Actually, might even make a Tasmanian attractive.
Note: as the date of the Tasi team gets closer, this becomes less attractive for clubs. More compensation remedies needed. Maybe minimum contract length for drafted Tasmanian players. Or something?

If scared off by the Tas kids, get the Wizard.
Move Rachele to full time mid with Pedlar
Neither Rachele nor Pedlar are going to be full time mids. No chance. They are pinch hitters only. Between them two and Rankine, you can have one full time mid position.

Hahahahahahahaha

Corrupt league etc
Crouch was 'never' worth $800k. Hmmm looked like he did ok at the Brownlow last night.
They will also turn around and say that McKay is 'worth' it with a straight face. Absolute hypocrites and liars.

I’d say it’s unbelievable but really, given their past form, it’s anything but, unfortunately

The thing is - no other clubs wanted Crouch and multiple clubs want McKay.

It's not who is the best player - it's who does the market want more. There's more money out there for McKay, sadly.

Non Victorian clubs need to go to the media and call this and McKay deals out.
AFL doesn't listen to anything other than negative media.

Rachele was the best player in the U16s as a mid and Pedlar was drafted as a mid, seems a bit silly to just state with certainty neither of them will end up there.

I'd like to see a Brad Crouch vs Ben King poll...

They are saying Crouch isn't worth $800k
But then that spud McKay is worth $800k to get Norf a 1st round pick
I know where I would prefer to spend my $800k and it isn't with McKay
It's not the AFL's duty to "decide" what a player should get paid. If the Saints wanted to pay him that then that's their god damn business.

But again this all boils down to the AFL finding every avenue possible to stop us going into the draft with pick 1 and 2.
This may be of note to usView attachment 1814355
Yea, if it's also costing a 2 year extension for Haynes I'd be skipping that.

I never said I wanted him, just something of note, especially considering we may already be dealing with them for Himmelberg.
Perryman would be the one I'd go after if they are looking to free up some cap space.

That doesn't make sense.

Clubs ARE offering McKay $800k and they didn't offer it to Crouch.

They might be wrong but they're genuinely doing it.
