Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Hello Adelaide fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

brucetiki you may like to sticky this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), and perhaps copy to your draft thread.

If we get Oliver in to complete our midfield (and Burgess gets him fit) ... the Crows will be playing in consecutive PreLims 2024-2026 and at least 1 Grand Final.
We've got the cattle in Defence and Forward. With another solid midfielder we're in business.

Give up the 2x first rounders, and McAdam, and the Doedee compo pick, and more picks to get him. Just get him for darn sake. And then Nicksy has what he needs to go get us some cups.

I just hope this trade doesn't turn out to be Bryce Gibbs Part2

Clayton Oliver in. Burgess starts working on him while he's waiting for his luggage at the carousel.
McAdam & Fogarty to Melbourne, throw in a pick if necessary.

Himmelberg out, use whatever we get there to bring in Burgess & Chol for steak knives

FWD's are Thilthorpe, Tex, Gollant, Burgess, Chol, Rachele, Rankine, Pedlar (we'll miss Fog, but it'll be alright)
MID's are Oliver, Laird, Dawson, Soligo, Crouch, with rotations of Sloane, Rankine, Pedlar, Hinge, Parnell & co
BACK's are Murray, Smithers, Nankervis, Butts, Keane, Borlase, Michalanney with Dawson there from time to time.

Who did I forget?
What? Why?

Also this:

Seems a little more reasonable, less "hand over the entire list" kind of thing.

Agree but I would not like some of the suggestions being put up. Any More than 9, F1, 21, Macadam would be no go for me unless Petty is also worked in deal.

Equivalent of three first rounders will be what they ask for, at least two top ten.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if they ask for Thilthorpe given that's the type they really need. That would really set the cat amongst the pigeons.

agree they ask we must decline

hopefully the rumoured doedee compo is higher than expected (afl kickback for ****ing up us making finals and not complaining) making it band 2 pick 19/20. im not sure if tge north priority pick takes preference.

then 9, f1, 19/20 are technically first rounders plus macadam and throw in steak knives but only a himmel, berry, sholl, mchenry or something like that definitely none of the top talent or its a no. we aren't that desperate

So, the Harrison Petty story grinds to a halt. Interesting that it is only two years which, while contracted is hardly LOCKED IN. He's a young fellow and would be a nice acquisition when his two years are up!

From the AFL website:

KEY DEE NOT LEAVING

MELBOURNE forward Harrison Petty will stay at the Demons despite Adelaide's interest in the premiership player.

The Demons will be in negotiations with the Crows to trade in forward Shane McAdam, with Adelaide having interest in luring back South Australian Petty.

However, despite having a pull home, Petty is locked in to remain at Melbourne, where he is contracted for the next two seasons and highly valued as a part of the Dees' group.

Petty was a key player in the club's 2021 premiership as a defender but had turned to be a forward this year before his ankle injury in round 21.

You’d think we’d still be a large chance to get him in 2025, if we have the cap space

Surely you jest?

Honouring the full 7 year contract @ $1m per season, coming off a significant hamstring injury? Reeks of buyers remorse from the Dees, and is wholly reminiscent of the Treloar/Grundy situations at the Pies.

How Crows supporters are literally refusing to see the parallels is beyond me, and stinks of desperation.

Sweet, BZT and Ratagulea stinks of desperation.

Pick 9, F1 (likely to be mid/high teen), McAdam and our first R2 would be a steal for a player who is a league top five player and a player that puts us in contention in 2024. Reckon Melbourne might entertain that deal, would give them draft hands to engineer in Harley Reid plus more.

We need to be bold, the time is now - get it done!
