Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Sean Darcy was one before signing current contract. Adam Cerra was another before he signed his last extension with us.

Henry has played in how many wins this season?
His first 7 games were gifted to him on the basis of being out of contract. Very ordinary form and got given first choice from Peel.
Just cannot believe Bell and co pushed Acres out whilst having a Henry out or contract. NOD has been out of form all season.

The message coming out of Fremantle is "We would like him to stay". That is not "he is a wanted player and is very much our future" We would like him to stay is just words when the real message is that he is tradeable. They can't openly just say "Anyone that wants him can have him"

If they’re not pushing hard to keep him then it really says all that needs to be said about the club.
He’s a very good player now, has potential to be an out and out superstar and we are going to allow him to walk without putting in one hell of a fight?

So, we’re going to get a second round pick back? How long does it take that guy to get to Henry’s level? If ever it’s going to be 3+ years so it’s another step backwards.

Getting Incredibly frustrating that this happens year on year.

Club has done a lot of "cap moves" as of late. Giving players longer contracts than they probably should (presumably to pay less per year), refusing to "overpay" for certain players, even trading in Jaeger and giving him 4 years, with Hawthorn paying part of his salary presumably being a big part of Freo's reasoning.

Hopefully we see some fruits come from all this salary cap management Freo seem to be doing in the same way that Sydney are doing weird stuff with their cap to attract big fish like Himmelberg and Barrass, don't want to see Freo playing checkers while thinking they're playing 4D chess.

Superstar? Can't kick more than 40 metres, hopeless at set shots and won't get the hard ball....he has improved, but let's not kid ourselves. Happy to let this play out.

Didn’t mind some of the fends offs and work in traffic on the weekend.

Also not sure he needs to be getting too much contested ball from the wing, his role is the exact opposite of that.

His kicking albeit I agree doesn’t penetrate has been sensational with the exception of the odd brain fart recently.
Nothing wrong with his skills.

Taking out Henry and replacing him with Langdon or Acres and I believe we would have still lost.

Posters keep saying his first 4 or more games were horrible.

Henry was named in the best 6 first game vs St Kilda. He also played reasonably well vs North but woeful against West Coast (win) and Adelaide (loss). Then after a hiccup with concussion at Peel he played a solid run of good games with Peel. After the bye his first game back was no good. Thereafter he has been good.

My biggest issue with him is depth in kicking - particularly goal kicking. If he is to elevate his game we need some goals.

I’d rather we keep but if push came to shove and we get reasonable compensation then I’m ok with him leaving. Those expecting Sharp to come in and replace him could be very disappointed. From what I’ve seen at VFL level he is a downgrade on Henry except he kicks the ball a lot longer. Stanley I like but it has been a bad year for NOD.

Also sounds to me that WC are in the box seat to land both Sharp and Brockman.

So North are playing West Coast this weekend. If West Coast win, then we would get a better draft hand if we lose to West Coast.
ie: North win the spoon.
West Coast would be worse off, too.

It's kind of a lose win win scenario.
Wce need to win 2, their percentage is atrocious

Could even be a historic low % at this point of the season?

I would rather forfeit all our draft picks than lose to WC.

Uh huh. Losing to West Coast this year would be an existential threat to our collective sanity.
Sad Happy Hour GIF

None of these popped up constantly all season like Henry has.
Henry to the Bulldogs started after we played the Bulldogs, around the same time Jammo said Shoota was being targeted by them. It has got louder after Jammo said we matched the Bulldogs offer to Shoota.

Before that point all the talk was that Henry may be delisted from the fans and nothing really on the rumour mill beyond fan speculation.

There was the one preseason article about how Young and Henry were waiting to see how he went in the new position of wing before negotiating.

Darcy to Geelong and Fyfe to Collingwood got longer air from my memory.

The reporters saying Darcy to Geelong or Fyfe to Collingwood were always full of sh**. Only ‘journalists’ that said these two were Sumich and morons repeating what Sumich said.

Henry was literally rumoured last season but never linked specifically to anywhere. Was linked to Melbourne early in the year and is now linked to the Bulldogs. He’s be linked with a move away from the club pretty much every month since the season started. He’s easily the most rumoured departure this season.

ITK guessing comp is up lots of Freo entries ploz

From when? Brockman and his wife had twins late last year, and I would have thought that is pretty strong motivation to behave himself off field. Seems like a good kid to me and Walters is the perfect role model to mentor him for a few years.
From this year when he came over for the hawks game. If you’re going to ask for a source, is his old man close enough for you?
