Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

A Couple or one?
Might have even been just one. I just remember it was on channel 7 in Melbourne anyway (a rare thing for a WA team). Possibly during the covid era.
I remember taking interest as he was Andy’s brother but that’s where the similarities end. I think he had about 5 or 6 touches.
Seemed a great bloke though, and appeared to be over the moon to be playing an AFL game

Feel like Ras has a quickness when the ball is near him on the ground, that’ll hold him in good stead. Not sure if it is a good step, good reflexes or what - probably the latter since he is supposed to be a handy cricketer I guess.

Not concerned about him, have seen enough good signs and he has the drive.

Feel like he is going to be really good in the wet thru his career, and in those games where the ball is on the deck a lot.

Probably less impactful when the ball is bouncing from end to end but you can’t be good at everything.*

*unless you are Pav.

Couple of rumours off twitter, Jake Waterman to freo… very interesting

On Erasmus. I think we're worrying a bit too much. Once you get into the back half of the first round, it's still hit and miss. And considering he has a December birthday, it's a positive that's he's played 20 games so far, and hasn't looked out of place.

It's an also a real positive that he's a hard worker and looks to be the type of person that will bring professionalism and high standards. You want those players in the club. I think the De Boer comparison from EShed is pretty apt. Although its not ideal to use a first rounder on an honest worker, I'd be pretty happy with a pick 10 playing 200+ games and bringing good culture to the club for 10+ years.

I watched a bit if Erasmus at Hale. He beasted the PSA. Also elite at athletics.

At Subiaco played out of his skin in that under age GF. The second half of his colts year (after PSA) was disrupted due to a severe corky - significant thigh bleed which stopped him running and unable to participate in Combine.

He played very well in his early games last yea at Peel resulting in the coach giving high praise and not expecting to see him too much. Every game for Peel thereafter he has been tagged and had a run with. This year there were some good games (go back and watch the Collingwood loss). There were also a number of games where he was subbed off and countless games where he started as the sub. Johnson when coming on as sub also looked lost, it isn’t easy coming on 5mins before or after the 3 qtr siren and picking up the tempo straight away.

Mid season when he had a run of good WAFL form a number of posters indicating that we needed to get him into AFL side and the same posters having great concern on whether he will or won’t make it. He needs to bulk up. He will work as hard as anyone and I’m sure will be a very good LT player for the club.

A young bloke playing a good game in a GF and also with good traits of hard work/professionalism and a hard head is a good combo IMO. If we're going to have a run of finals football in the coming years we'll need blokes that go up a level when the heat is on. Erasmus strikes me as that sort of player.

Counter point - he's not Judd yet. Delist.

The thing is don’t get with Erasmus, is why they didn’t give him an extended run playing fwd/mid ie in a Mitch Owens like role. Especially in the second half of the year.

I think you can make the case he’s going to have a very hard time breaking into the side as a pure midfielder given those who are ahead of him. Feel like that fwd/mid role would be ideal right at the moment.
I have a different question to do with list management. It does come with the caveat that MJ being available was an unknown when he was selected. But with other options for his position, could we have done better in that draft. Wanganeen-Millera a clearer list need IMO.

Alternatively, some crafty pick trading may have iced our forward needs as well. Perhaps we were nervous about Erasmus ending up at WC.

I love trade rumours as much or more than the next guy, but I'll believe this once Sean lodges his trade request and not a moment before.

The only thing that gives me the serious heebie geebies is taking Reidie and Knobel.

Losing Darcy as well as Henry would not be…ideal
