Cowan had the advantage of being a man playing boys last year. It will take time to adjust playing on players his own size/bigger than him. He will be fine.

Ouch. Not sure you've ever watched many tall forwards at 19. Lemey is tracking well. These guys take until they're 22-23 before you really see their full potential.

It was the big knock on him leading up to the draft as well.

I wouldn’t mind Cowan getting another go. He played pretty well on Saturday. I wouldn’t be against swinging Boyd forward to accomodate him coming back into the defence.

After Friday night I’m completely out on Fisher and Motlop and have significant doubts on Owies. We would be better off with Boyd, Fogarty and one of Cunners and Martin than playing Fish, Mots and Owies.

None of them can tackle, chase, get the ball or do anything constructive with it and usually their opponents are among the top 6 or 7 players on the field. It is akin to playing with 3 less players on the field.

Yep, spot on. Totally over our over reliance on Charlie and Harry, playing four non-contributor's in our forward-line makes the oppo's coaches jobs so easy every week. I think Honey gets another chance this week, for mine he offers more than Fogarty.

I headed out to the quarter time huddle, and there was Pitto out on the ground who'd taken O'Keefe aside and giving him some one on one advice. Nice touch I thought.

Saady also came out onto the ground and had a bit of a chat to the defensive group before the line coaches took over. Not that it means anything, but just thought I'd throw it into the conversation.

I always wondered how many first team players watched the Reserves.

No doubt there is a loooong way to go for Lemmey in a lot of areas but patience is required. Everyone knows tall forwards invariably look shizen the first year or 2 out of the draft in particular. Patience is required before getting too critical or assuming because he isn't throwing his body around now he never will.

He is quick enough and when he does clunk a mark it's usually taken at the highest point which is a big tick and he's got an awesome technique kicking for goal. Tank not there and he hasn't grown into his body yet but has a great build.

His development right now looks exactly where I would have expected. Pretty similar to the other Harry from memory.

DC - 4 touches in 6 mins and then rested for 7 mins. Showing his value with his kick into the middle - opened the play up.

We’re moving the ball a lot better out of D50 today. Not getting value for it with out i50 entries… until then.

Gill really does have nice skills and read, but not sure he has enough pace to be a general forward at the next level.

Is this how we've played VFL all year? Really appreciating the use of corridor and attacking mindset with the forward handball. If it's indicative of a shift club wide and we see this in AFL today I'm genuinely excited to watch the game for the first time in what feels like all year.
