Someone on TC said he got injured late in the game

Could be a concussing is the last few seconds, there was a head clash. It's on the replay, not sure of the result of it, hopefully not a concussion.
Probably a broken nose, so it will get assessed to see how much swelling there is and if he needs to sit out for a bit. Concussion could be an element as well, unclear given there was no way for us to know about any assessment.

Yeah, he was down for about 3 or 4 minutes after the final siren with the doctors/physios around him. When he eventually got to his feet he came off unassisted but was holding a towel to his face, which suggests possibly a busted snout.

You'd imagine that either way, we probably won't see him next week - any head clash like that I'd hope the club would be conservative with the concussion protocols - especially at VFL level.

On the coverage you could see he was trying to sit up within 20 seconds, mostly wincing in pain prior to that, then the trainers got to and had him to relax and get assessed.

I'll defer to you as to how long that went on for, but fingers crossed it's just some light swelling after popping his nose out and getting the wind knocked out of him and inner ear knocked out of kilter, because he'd be a fantastic inclusion for next week.

In what teams though? Bottom 6 sides? He can’t get a game now.
Correct he can’t get a game now. You referred to the entire time he’s been at the club. 2 very different things. He’s played almost 150 AFL games. You don’t get that many games if you aren’t up to it, regardless of what team you are in. For a fair period he was our first choice for the oppositions best small forward. And he’s taken some scalps along the way. Is he a depth player at best now - yes, no argument from me on that.

Yeah, fair point mate. I was being needlessly harsh. I think he won’t be at the club next year but that shouldn’t take away the years he has been here.

Had a look at the game replay, they are playing a good brand of footy, our midfield was just far too strong as was our defence. Our forward line is very weak but the mids kicked goals and the supply was good.

Dow - He would have to be the best player in the VFL. Didn't take long before they clamped down on him with a hard tag, was just too dominant coming out of the middle with his run and carry. He's not the player with loads of deficiencies he used to be. As an AFL inclusion, he's a better player than Hewett, he's very likely a better player than Kennedy but we are afraid to find out. Impressive game, hope that was not a concussion right at the end of the game, impressed that he is still running hard at the end of the game, which was something he wasn't doing last season. Would be an ideal Mid who drifts forward in the AFL side, would be the ideal player to rotate with Walsh.

Binns - Not sure what the nock on him is. Perhaps his disposal could be a little more polished. Has a fantastic work rate, times his overlap run, reads the game exceptionally well and provides an outlet over and over again. Talk about holding his shape, I think he's a better football brain than Hollands but Hollands is faster. He's a fantastic tackler. Was given the last 5 minutes on the ball which was good to see from a development perspective. Would like to see a bit of high half forward added to his game. Would love to know his GPS numbers. Think he is a terrific player to be honest. As for his future, he may end up being an onballer when he fills out but for now his outside game is really good on the wing. Would have to be the best winger in the VFL for sure.

Cowan - He's a much improved player. Love his half back play. Run and carry and handball receives. He's an excellent kick. His fitness and reading of the game has improved a lot. He's a lot better player than the one who debuted round 1 earlier in the season. Looks fitter and stronger. Fantastic kick. Where could he improve? Probably a little overhead but really impressed with him. Good athlete, natural footballer, terrific skills. Would love to see us give him a bit of time on the wing. Wing and half back flank are very similar positions at the higher level in terms of game play, it's just one is a little more defensive and one has a little more running involved but if you can play both that adds a lot to the team. Would love his kicking going inside 50 off a wing.

Motlop - Have been calling for this for a long time and saying this for a long time. He's a natural midfielder more than a natural forward and he needs to be playing more midfield time to develop both parts of his game and so we can get our midfield rotations up in the AFL side. Played mostly in the middle, at first looked a bit lost but he got better as the game went on. If we persist with this he will get better and better. He's a strong body with a lot of skills and quick in a small space so he's suited to the midfield role. He also reads the game well in midfield play. He lacks endurance so playing on the ball will help build this. Liked his game and hope we persist with developing him as a forward/mid. I think long term he will be that player.

Carroll - Looked like an AFL player playing against a weaker VFL side. He was good. He also looked like someone who has not had enough footy recently, was a little rusty. Got caught a few times but only because he had no one to go to. Would not happen in the AFL in a better system surrounded by better players. I think he has a future in the AFL. He does struggle a bit when he goes to his second position which is half forward. I think we need to persist with it though as breaking into the AFL team probably means you need a second position. Body is still filling out, he's been a slow burn but he's a good young talented player.

Plowman - I still feel that Plowman will find a third AFL team. He's a skills smart footballer. Far too good for AFL. He's not elite but there has to be a team out there who is looking for someone like this who can come straight in and fill a spot.

O'Brien - A bit disappointed with his kicking. He finds the ball but he wasn't damaging. Think we will be trying to find him a new AFL side as there's no future for him at Carlton now.

Lemmy - I'm glad to see him getting some time in the ruck. But he seems miles away at this stage. His body is still too light and immature and he gets pushed around a lot. What he needs to be doing is trying to get on the lead more and getting a run and jump at things. He gets caught wrestling a lot, I'd like to see him leading up and jumping at the ball. He's got a few more years to go before we look at him for AFL footy.

Durdin - He's ok, just a solid smart player, good to have him on our list.

O'Keefe - Looks a natural ruck, did some nice things but he's raw.

Marchbank - Really not that involved which is strange for him. Probably very underdone understandably.
Agree of most of this but while they have similar tanks there is no way Hollands is faster than Binns. Binns agility/ evasiveness is much better as well.

Absolute wasted opportunity to get games into him over the last month

Binns is a very very impressive player. It looks like it was a good draft

VFL chat for a sec, what is going on with Coburg? admittedly i haven't paid them much attention since Phil Cleary was still coach but they haven't won a game this year with a percentage of 52%
They've been crap for a while. Possibly impacted by us taking on Knights players (as would the Bullants), but both have been poorly run for years.

Lachie Cowan, Ed Curnow and George Hewett have come out of the side due to AFL travelling emergency requirements

Also among the inclusions against Coburg is Darcy Hogg, the son of Carlton premiership player Matthew, who will play his first VFL game.

Good luck to Darcy, son of one of my very favourite 90s players Hoggy (who was very underrated I feel)
