You've got to be a NASA astronaut to figure out these sort of trades. I think it means he's s**t and worth * all but I can hardly tell these days.
You're right on all counts; both clubs are taking a complete leap of faith about where they finish next year. The only thing you can say for certain right now is that if Collingwood win the flag again, and Hawthorn finish in the same place - and then assuming there are no bids pushing picks around, which obviously won't happen - then Hawks are getting 1601 points and Ginnivan, and Collingwood are getting 1837 points, which values Ginnivan between 52 and 53

Make of those assumptions what you will - both list management teams have

How did you come to that opinion?
Just reading between the lines. Listening to O'Brien in interviews etc. I'm no psychoanalyst, I just have consumed a lot of the stuff written and said and I'm not convinced. I posted it a few days ago, but this thread moves so fast I don't even know where it'd be.

Basically I reckon WC will come out after everything and say, "McKercher was our target all along and we are just wrapt with how things turned out for us, to get our main target plus additional first round pic(s) we couldn't have wished for a better outcome"

Will be for Reid, Eagles want 2 and another top 10 pick. Have that from a good source. Those teens pick of ours wont do it with WCE.

Be looking at Geelongs/Essendons etc. May look to get WCE 22 involved in the deal.

Then these are future swaps. I reckon it gets done.

Big price to pay though. Basically giving up Caddy to go from McArch to Reid.
I thinks it more for our own list than Reid. We'll be hoping for one of the high rated taller guys.
WC can have pick2 and 17 for Reid or keep him. They're not trading him for picks outside the top 3.

I think you've added a pick in there somewhere. It's currently 33, HF2 (23) and HF3 (41) for Ginnivan, 39, CF2 (38), CF4 (74). Ie. 1790 points vs 911 points which has him at pick 21 equivalent.

Can someone fill me in on where the talk that Eagles are more keen on McKercher than Reid is coming from?
The fact they knocked back a pretty good offer from Hawks who have pick 4 but are making sure everyone knows the pick is on the market.
Tells you right there they have their eye on a certain player we're likely to take and want that plus extra to trade pick1. That player is most likely McKercher and should tell us they rate them pretty close, if not they wouldnt be all tarted up on the street corner.

Has anybody been able to sniff the IP addresses of the Reid's and the McKercher's to see which family have been eying realestate in Perth over the past few days?

Also, have there been any recent venue bookings for "going away parties" that can be reported on.

Agree. They'll be massaging the sales pitch to their members now, portraying any deal as a massive win while downplaying Reid's qualities and talking up McKercher (or whoever) as the next Chris Judd. As many have already said (in the previous 825 pages), how can a club that finished last start a rebuild with one quality player? They can't; their No.1 pick has to somehow be turned into three top-20 picks - and done in such a way that placates the feral Too'n'Free numpties ....

If we do manage to trade a couple of late teens picks for another top 10 pick, I hope that we shut up shop after that and abandon any thought of a further trade for pick 1, otherwise we'll finish up with at most just 3 first round picks instead of the 5 we currently hold. The added benefit of multiple first rounders this year is that we get to lock them down for three years.

Soldo would have been a nice pickup

But I’d take lycett or teakle for free as delisted free agents
Lycett is very much cooked. Some on our board wanted him back before it looked like we were getting Matt Flynn, but the dude is absolutely fried. Can’t compete around the ground anymore which was his one strength as a ruck. He’s always been pretty average in the middle due to his bad habit of jumping way too early. Without the other strings to his bow, he doesn’t offer much at afl level

A lot of people would be ropable at the club letting Goldie go and then they turn around and offer Lycett a deal that would be palatable enough to him that he'd uproot his family to move to Melbourne.

Externally I think letting a club legend like Goldstein go is odd, unless he wasn’t happy playing second fiddle to new bloke (Xerri? Is that how it’s spelt?) is odd, but I suppose I’m also a fan of a club who hasn’t been nearly efficient enough of making tough calls about aging declining players so I can’t be too critical. Naitanui being one obvious example.

You mean a deal to give him an opportunity to stay on a list instead of being delisted

And by family you mean his gf. He has no kids
