Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
If we can turn Clark into Flanders that is a massive upgrade. I think Gresh into Henry is a good step too. On top of that I'd love another mid to add some depth there.Parish is a free agent. No trading or dealing with Essendon. Doubt he comes and if he costs more than $900k x4 probably not really worth it. I think you could probably get a more dynamic player for the same money but he'd still be a great get for us.
Coffield would get nothing in a trade. If you delisted him he might get picked up.
Terrible draft for high end mids. Might get a bargain later pick but that's a dice roll.
Why would that not be a popular opinion except for Crouch?
Flanders is good, Dow has shown he can play, don't know the young mids in the draft will be at our picks though.

There hasn't been any indication that we have an interest in Parish has there? You would have to assume that any interest in Parish indicates an intention to match any FA offers for Gresham and force a trade, or keep him on a cheap contract. Perhaps they know/expect a smaller offer to come given his form slump.

Parish is a RFA... he will choose what club he goes to (if any).If he is looking for his big payday, then we certainly have experience with that.
Issue is, many players make requests of where they want to end up.... most clubs adhere to that because there is nothing worse than a disgruntled player on big money at your club.
Steer clear.
Yeah fair enough. Not controversial but some might question it. We are a pretty divided lot.
Dow is a pretty ordinary player and makes a bit less sense seeing as we are unloading Gresham for having the same type of deficiencies. He's fast but can't kick, he literally goes at 35% some games. Gresham has better DE than that. Even at VFL level he gets 35 possessions and has about 10 that actually hit a target. He's only about a year and a half younger so not sure there is a much bigger upside. He seemed a lot more appealing before he got into the senior side. Reckon he's a younger Jones. He'd require a trade and playing recently probably pushed that up to a second to third rounder.
Crouch is a good free depth option who should be ready to step out of the side when the kids are ready so hardly any issues there.
Flanders looks like he has elite potential still. 22 yo, under 50 games and regularly getting 30 plus disposals in a strong midfield with bulk extractors around him. There are only so many opportunities to get the ball and if he's winning his share in a strong set up he's going well. Probably already be our second best mid with huge growth potential.
To me we should look at fringe players in good lists. Elijah Hollands, Jeremy Sharp.....even Fiorini or Tsitas for them. Maybe even Constable. Mathieson, Binns etc.
Also look for VFL players who are performing. Jean-Luc Vallisaris, Kai Owens etc.

Great point Joff. Making a significant upgrade to our midfield could do wonders for our team. Imagine replacing Clark and Gresham with Flanders and Parish. The flow-on effect of those changes would be huge.Yeah fair enough.
Dow I wouldn't mind, looked like he could play on the weekend, can get more than zero possessions in the 4th unlike some of our current mids.
Crouch again shows he can play but he is as one paced as the rest of our midfield and age may go against him
Flanders would be a good get, and with Parish in play, if we got those two, it would be similiar how Richmond got Prestia and Caddy in 2017, it is not the fact they are superstars but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Like your last idea as well, we have been pretty good with the likes of Wilkie, Hammer, even Wood as left field speculators.
If we could manage to land Flanders and Parish, and then pick up a Fiorini or a Dow, that would be just about as best we could possibly do. Wishful thinking on my part I suppose.
That's such a bullsh*t take!
Totally disagree with Coffield.
He's highly rated both at St Kilda & elsewhere. He'd get us a 2nd or 3rd but they won't move him unless he requests it.
Serious injuries & complications from them happen... blokes don't lose their talent. There's no indication as yet that the knee has effected his athletic attributes either.
I reckon he'll play a massive role next season... hopefully in RWB.
You have really lost the plot now , three games back after an ACL and you have written him offParish is a free agent. No trading or dealing with Essendon. Saying he’s not performing due Ross’s game style is a BS take.. He’s been put in position to be successful, he’s just not living up to his end has nothing to do with the game style being dour which it isn’t and stats back that up..Why's that? Which bit? Turning something you can't use into something that you can make use of is better management than keeping someone that isn't serving them or you well. Lyon isn't going anytime soon so might as well let him move the pieces around that he wants to.
Geelong will be able to backend a big deal.Essendon not as confident about keeping him apparently, and as Mowman posted, he is looking for the big payday, don't know if Geelong can match others, including us.

I think it would be disappointing/slightly controversial if Dow was the only player we managed to bring in.Not controversial but some might question it. We are a pretty divided lot.

Most of the players they are paying good money to will be gone in 2-3 years. They have very few under 30 who will be on big contracts.
I dont think saying he'd be worth nothing in a trade is writing him off.You have really lost the plot now , three games back after an ACL and you have written him off
Gotta pay somebody and there is no point over paying our kids again and getting stuck in the same situation we are now.If Gresham, Jones and Clark all go then bringing in Parish is a no brainer.
Fills in a big void in the midfield and the 3 out 1 in still gives midfield time to Owens, Windy and Pou and another guy for them to learn from.
Front load the hell out of his contract while we can too
(Now watch him go to Geelong)
You have really lost the plot now , three games back after an ACL and you have written him off
Did we not give up a 2nd rounder for Freeman , i maybe wrongI dont think saying he'd be worth nothing in a trade is writing him off.
Would you be happy if we gave up anything more than say a late 3rd/4th rounder for a guy who has missed 2 seasons and yet to play senior footy after doing a knee?

Yes, we gave a future 2nd for a top 10 pick, two years after they were drafted.Did we not give up a 2nd rounder for Freeman , i maybe wrong
