Well that’s a bit better
Still not getting us the gun mid with 8 and 12 thou

Unless we somehow package up and trade again?
Look I’m not pretending I know any of this as solid fact.

I heard of the Shiel interest. The pick stuff came as a surprise.

I asked a question and was told there is lots at play. We could get pick 8 in some of the stuff spoken about. We could not.

I keep getting told to just back the club in since the day we sacked Ratten. It’s worked out pretty well so far and I’ll keep doing that.

But if we traded 13 for Shiel straight up. I would be filthy

This is legitimately one of the stupidest ****ing rumours I’ve ever heard bandied around trade week.

Gresh + pick 13 for Shiel (and we wear $200ish k more in the cap).

It deadset looks like Ralphy has read some Essendon fanfic and gone with it.

Any thing could happen this trade period , WCE basically need to split there pick - they want that West Aussie kid and they are wanting Robertson from the Lions and that kid from the Suns / Sharpe and with 1 , 20 , 34 they could split there pick (one good pick in the draft is not going to turn them around)and we could somehow get involved somehow - interesting Clark has not signed yet and Nth checked him out last year.

Its amazing how many of these supposed investigative journalists just parrot each other. I find it astounding that Edmund gets air time just to repeat what another journo has already stated and its seen as something significant. Let alone the credibibility of the story or feasability of such a trade.

So he's got no idea and repeating ralph who has no idea.
The last 15 seconds is the key part.

“The details are hazy”

“Clubs think they have a piece of the information but not all of it “

So Edmund's story has changed between the breakfast show and Whatley's show, now he thinks we would send our 2nd rounder back to Essendon, keep 13 or 19 and pay all of Shiel's salary next year.
If you get 13.

You probably do that deal

Just listening to SEN talk about Melbourne working on an "earth-shattering trade". Made me wonder as to what that would look like if the Saints were involved. Could we be working on a deal to send Steele over for Pick 5? I don't think it'll happen, I'm just putting 2 and 2 together as where theres smoke theres fire.

Because he is happy either way and the clubs are working through this I guess.

Has there ever been a player who nominates and doesn’t get to his club of choice when his current club matches?

Essendon don’t want to trade for him if we match.
This sounds more manager driven then player i'd say he is ill advised.

Had a think of how stupid the Gresham and 13 for Sheil scenario is

Why can't these stupid mother f*ckers understand that trading pick 13 for a 31 year old on north of 800k is of no benefit to us?
I said it yesterday but if you stack Shiel and Gresh up side by side you could argue that with the right circumstances they make sense as a direct swap. Gresh is 26 with some injury history and a small sample of high end footy, Shiel is 31 with a long injury history and a more established sample of high end footy. They’re both burst mids with terrible kicks. I would personally say Gresh has a high ceiling but that’s the joy of still being relatively young.

Even taking off any sort of bias (and I think saying they’re comparable is being generous to Shiel) why would we give up the compensation we’d get for losing Gresham PLUS spend an extra 100-200k a year to basically swap like for like players?

It seems ridiculous to me that not a single journo has stopped to ponder if this makes any sense beyond whether the AFL would sign of off.

Now us getting first round compo for helping the bombers clear some cap space and get Gresham always seemed very generous of them to me personally BUT I could at least see why that would make sense (plus they pick before the compo pushes everyone back so why would they care).

This current iteration would probably be on the Mount Rushmore if idiotic deals. It’s actually so stupid that I don’t think even we could do it.

Why would a midfield than consists of Oliver, Viney and Petrecca want Steele? Makes no sense for either party.

Petracca has been spending more time forward, Steele has also done the same. I thought the same thing as you originally, but after sitting on it a bit, it makes sense.

Oh yeh I get it, lotta air to fill (this is proper trade radio shithousery) but it’s more the idiocy of it.

It seriously takes 3 seconds to ponder how stupid it sounds and go “well I’ve heard this from Ralphy but honestly it makes zero sense”.

Anyway, it’s properly frosted my flakes so well played SEN

Without hesitation.

Apparently it's close to a million but if we can afford it, it's worth doing.
He comes off the books next year in either his entirety or we give him a second year at less then half.

So you have 1 free agents salary ready to go

They are crying out for a key forward. I cant see any sense why they would then pay 800k for another midfielder or why Steele would want to go and be 4th in line instead of number 1 and captain.

To me it makes no sense. Steele played a lone hand in a weak midfield in the final. His best game for the club in years.

He is our version of Lenny at the moment. He is also captain. It would tear the heart out of the club to trade the only A grade midfielder we have.
