Best case is saints 2nd round pick.
More than likely the port pick.

600 to 700k.

Is that better value than Zurhaar for our team, assuming same salary but no picks?
I’d prefer Zurhaar too but there doesn’t seem any actual link to us

Really don’t rate Zurhaar that much, watched him closely at the weekend - he’s very meh if you ask me.
He’s also coming from a loser culture and has hardly won any games of note during his career. (Granted that isn’t his fault but it’s still a negative compared to Baker).

I see him as a lesser version of Jake Stringer - those are the vibes he gives off.

Baker is miles the better player in my opinion.

Snuffaluphagus I’d pay $650k or so over 5 years for baker. He barely ever gets injured and should be a safe a bet as you can hope for in that regard (it’s definitely a factor that’s not considered enough by the way - will this player consistently get on the park for us?).
Anything from pick 17-25, maybe the fact he’s OOC would help us?

I see him taking the spot of Aish/worner/banfield with ease. I think he suits modern footy so well too where the game is played more chaos and off the cuff. He generally makes excellent decisions in possession and never ever fumbles. Brilliant wet weather specialist too - something we generally have sucked at over the years.

You have to have watched Zurhaar over his whole career and not just one game to see what he brings. He has single-handedly won them games and would contribute more to our forwardline than Baker would to our backline.

I don’t think he’s much of an upgrade on Aish to be honest but you’d play him over Emmett who seems firmly best 22, Walker and probably SonSon by this time next year

Just my two cents on the Darcy/jackson debate - can see where the media is coming from on the whole two rucks thing. As Snuffaluphagus has said there’s a reasonable debate to be had there, especially if we lose or miss out on guns elsewhere on the ground due to having no cap space.
However:
  • I’d like to see Jackson dominating the following 5 or 6 rucks before I’d fully hop on board with Cornes and Kings view. Nankervis, Briggs, Marshall, Gawn, Witts, Grundy. Nank and Briggs especially monstered him last year.
  • the biggest concern with committing to Darcy to me is his injuries… we have to all admit the guys pretty injury prone the last couple of years. He’s a big dude and it can’t be easy maintaining an AFL level of fitness for him as he gets older, seven years is a looonnnng time from this standpoint. These constant ankle and knee niggles make me nervous…

However you have to roll the dice sometimes on risks. Overall I’m happy with where we sit now on the combo of both. I want to see Darcy play 15-18 games this year with his body right and get consistency with Jackson, then let’s judge it over a decent sample size.

I see Reid feeling the same way in a couple of years (or even less)

For mine, with the new contract values, I'd go like 600k and make it 5 years. 5 years is a lot but it gets a discount on the price, 600k sounds a lot but the new price increases are pretty nutty, that's like 450-500k today. According to Tigs supporters, he's on about that (600k) now.

Trade price, a pick in the 20s is fine by me, any higher and I start getting very uncomfortable.

I think those prices are under what he's worth on an open market but about what he's worth to us. The other options for him is to take more money but lose every week for at least 3 years at WC, stay in Melbourne or specifically stay at Tigers (and I think they are keen for him to move on really).

Corns thinks he's worth pick 4

I still want Logan McDonald. Reckon he is a hard worker, humble and stable. Would be a great fit age wise and would be a defenders nightmare combined with Amiss. It would suck to miss an opportunity for an established (non-party boy) KPF who wants to return to WA.

If we picked up McDonald what do you do with Jackson and Treacy when Darcy is fit?

darcy has played 21, 21 and 15 games last year. not the worst run at it especially for a ruckman. getting them to split the ruck role really should help both of them extend their careers and avoid being beat down.

You can point to stats from those earlier seasons where he players 21 games but there was several instances included in those totals where he didn’t finish games having picked up a knee or ankle issue only to be patched up somehow in time for the following week.
He’s already had 2 significant injuries in the last 10 months on top of that.
I’m as big a Darcy fan as anyone but I would suggest there’s a little purple tinged copium going on with fans who think Darcy is not at least somewhat injury prone at this stage given what we have seen of his career.
It’s a substantial risk when he’s locked in for 6 more years on $800-900k.

Lose Jacko to injury and there is no backup without Swaggy. What a great position to have two of the best in the comp. Depth is everything

Jackson can play many positions. Would be a good half forward, tall full forward, ruck or ruck rover.

Treacy also quite versatile. All of the above except ruck rover.

There would be times where Treacy misses out, there would be times where an injury to one of Darcy, Amiss, McDonald or Jackson means Treacy fills that void. I don’t see what the big issue is. Treacy will definitely be the one to fall down the pecking order but he will get opportunities both with all of the aforementioned or in the event of injury. At the moment I see him as more valuable mobile ruck than Reidy.

Saw something on Twitter linking Andy Brayshaw with the saints. Might have come from Sam McClure… may as well burn the joint to the ground if that happens.
He’s a “pre-agent” this year, for what it’s worth. Will be a RFA in 2025.
The link is that he, LDU and Luggage are all wanted by the saints.

That's it.

Brayshaw is on the Saints wish list. I don't think Brayshaw would contemplate leaving until he wins a flag. Both Brayshaw and Serong want it and you love to see it to be honest.

What do you do with cox and Pearce if you get Sam Taylor ?
What do you do with Hayden young Mathew Johnson and Neil Erasmus if you get Chad Warner?

You are allowed to rest kpp players on the bench you know
Sorry but Raz would have to go...sometimes you just have to make those hard decisions to be able to afford A graders.
