lol do something dumb. Have you seen these kids play or just watched the highlights?
I live in Queensland currently. Very long commute to see underage Vic footy…. I’ve watched a fair bit of vision and not sure using pick 10 on Greeves is a great use of such a high pick.. Pick 22 is not such a stretch.. Is that ok?

So, you are saying on the basis of highlights that picking Greeves is a not a great use of our pick and no longer dumb gotcha

The two may not be mutually exclusive.. If it’s not a great use of the pick, it might be considered dumb…
In your uneducated opinion it's not a great use of the pick (dumb). You have so very little data to come up with this opinion. Put it this way I wouldn't go around making statements about how crap players were in the draft having not watched them play or spoken to them and their coaches.

You're on the clock. Greeves, Grlj and Dovaston all on the board. Who are you taking?
My preference is for the best available. I do not have enough information to make that determination. Since i am just picking a player I would go Dovaston as I have seen him play at VFL level. Greeves trained with us but just for a couple of weeks. In the year we took the Wiz. I was adamant we would take him given he had trained with us for two years in preseason starting as a 16 year old. He spent around a month training with us before we drafted him.

At no stage did I call any player crap. That’s not the type of supporter I am, thats just something you’ve come up with.. I said it would be a stupid use of pick ten to draft Greeves given what I’ve seen of his play and given the consensus seems to be he’s a second round pick or potentially later…
Let’s move on please.

How do you determine who is best available?

Is it based on perceived talent or weighted towards what positions we need to address?

I think our small forward stocks are elite, but I'd love Dovaston because it could allow us to move Moore, the Wiz and Ginnivan around more.

The one without the vowels.

He got through life without them. He's strng.

I can't determine who is best available that's the point pick 10 will be best available according to the list of our recruitment team. Best available maybe a forward or a half back flanker or a forward pocket and maybe not a mid. A personal preference for me would be Dovaston who I have actually seen play I can't really form opinions on others.

Makes it even more ludicrous that we were rejected for Greeves.

Just a farce

Still dont understand how they came to that conclusion as they never provided a rationale from memory.

Its just the old trust me bro, we got this, now shut up and dont ask questions.

I would like to understand how North got the NGA for sanders, when they barely even worked with the kid

Pretty simple how they worked this out. Give them the NGA status as long as there is an agreement that they don’t match the butter’s free agency bid when he nominates Cats.

If Port finish bottom 6 they need to let Butters walk and take the compo pick if you can only match academy players with two picks from next year.

Afaik afl never publicly stated the basis for the decision on greeves. Woluld like to know if they decided that greeves claimed heritage wasn't proven or did they accept his claim but just say Hawthorn can't have him in the nga anyway for some other reason

Wasn't Greeves that we didn't add him to the NGA before a specific age?

Dyson Sharp moves like Craig Treleven, but lacks the elite kicking.
- He also has good hands in congestion and a strong presence at contests.

He could turn out to become an elite workhorse type inside mid who can also hit the scoreboard, but that will depend on whether he can maintain his U18 and SANFL standard at AFL level.

Sharp looks decidedly meh to me. Bigger than his competition, uses that advantage well, no burst, doesn't really read it off the tap or in space to exit congestion, excellent tackler, won't break lines, see's the game well and keeps it moving to advantage......
Really good VFL player/decent AFL player but doesn't look like high level AFL to me, certainly not what I'd spend a top 10 pick on.
Bruiser, reliable, inside, plays 10 years, sure.
Not what Sammy said he's looking for in his want list when adding to our on-baller division.
