HmmmmH.Dean @ #6 matching RFC bid
Ison @ #22 matching Freo bid
If essendon bid then we bid on theirs going forward. A bit of good will goes a long way. Fine if someone bids later in the 1st round to keep us honest. But not a very early bid.

Not the first, probably won't be the last.Go have a look at the drafts from 2016-2019...
How many of those players still on the list?
There's your answer to why people say his drafting screwed us.
So in this scenario what happens to our pick 11? What does that become?I'd be fine with an Essendon bid, so long as it comes after the other 3 Academy boys are bid on. That'd put the bid at 9 which would be a good outcome for Dean.
The text associated with the Hun article says Fremantle is keen.Hmmmm
Ison a bit earlier than I would like/expect, particuallry as its a first round
So then the question would be, do we still go ahead with those trades suggested in the HUN, or do we match the bid and secure another late 1st/early 2nd?I'd be fine with an Essendon bid, so long as it comes after the other 3 Academy boys are bid on. That'd put the bid at 9 which would be a good outcome for Dean.

Sorry, CBF’d with thatCheers.
Any chance for the whole list?

potentially leaves us with deficit for fisrt round next year if we dont have enough points. Ideally he gets bid on in Round 2The text associated with the Hun article says Fremantle is keen.
thats hardly a carlton first attitude, MansionSorry, CBF’d with that![]()

I think this all depends on what Voss instructions are, up until now we have all been 'about the contest', speed, outside run and skills were not as important as 'winning the contest' This was seen as our strength and our path to success, if Austin built a list based on this then its hard to now blame him when it became obvious we needed to pivotIt stuns me that Austin has been in the Chair for 6 draft/trade periods and we are going through a 2 season rebuild including a huge clean out of players he brought in, and yet we still blame SOS for the poor list. I think Austin is a passable recruiter but a failed list management. Things changed when Austin was managed by Graeme Wright
it's not the draft to be trading up, it's next yearI don't want to be too brash, but I don't really want to trade up, because I don't have a guy that I really want before Dean.
CDT looks good but is a 5 year development prospect. Robey looks exciting, but I sense the bust potential. Sharp doesn't fit our mid mix. X Taylor is another who is the wrong list fit. None of the key forwards should be taken that high.
It just doesn't make sense to me. Trade out to next draft with enough to match Dean, Ison is the best option IMO
that's because Wright is on the list management committee, watching first hand how Austin operates and identifies talentIt stuns me that Austin has been in the Chair for 6 draft/trade periods and we are going through a 2 season rebuild including a huge clean out of players he brought in, and yet we still blame SOS for the poor list. Anything else happen? So in one trade window we lose TDK, Curnow and Silvagni.
We get decent picks in for each of those players.
And the sum of what we are going to bring in via the draft is two players that were tied to us anyway.
Pretty shit result tbh.
No way Dean lasts that long. Cal Twomey has been clear on Gettable that Essendon's pick is as late as he is going to go.OK, i love a list so....with some time on my hands this week i've come up with my Top 20 Phantom. It will be right, you all know it will be right
But i have put a bit of thought into it, and considered a whole lot of other trades, points and intracacies etc. For us at Carlton i would prefer to get into next years draft, but can't quite see a way. And i acknowledge our mooted WC and Adelaide trades are a possibility. But this is what i came up with myself. Hopefully others can have a crack at their own. Hey, it's better than talking about the past:
TRADES
Melb trade 7&GC F1 to Rich for 3
Carl trade 9&11 to Ess for 6,21&27
Melb trade 8 to WC for 13&F2

3. WC: Cooper Duff-Tytler
4. Mel: Sullivan Robey
5. GC: Dylan Patterson
6. Bris: Dan Annable
7. Rich: Xavier Taylor
8. Ess: Dyson Sharp
9. Car: Sam Cumming or Aiden Schubert
10. Rich: Sam Grlj

12. WC: Jacob Farrow
13. Ess: Aiden Schubert or Cumming
14. Haw: Mitch Marsh
15. Ess: Josh Lindsay
16. GWS: Osker Taylor
17. Mel: Lattrelle Pickett
18. WB: Blake Thredgold
19. Ade: Harley Barker
20. Gee: Lachie Dovaston
I had ESS desperately trying to trade up to 2 but WC holding firm for the Big 2.
I see numerous clubs like Hawthorn, Bullies, Carlton, Geelong, Freo trying to trade into 2026 F1's but can't see it happening. Maybe Adel trade their F1 to Hawthorn to try get 2 of this years SA crop, but i dunno from both sides pov. So thats where i left it.
