What about all the goals he has kicked for us & the run down tackles he has made to keep it in our forward line.
I think they out-way what you are saying,
in his defence.
ive only noticed the crap stuff recently,i loved that goal in the 2020 final like everyone else, but the last 2-3 years he is a constant source of frustration with that lairising(however you spell it)stuff, thats all he provides now and i will say it again,it costs us goals, surely im not the only one that sees it?in fact im sure RTB saw it in one game this year when he was subbed out

im standing by what my eyes tell me,thats what i see re butler

Has anyone got any inside word on Liam Henry? I assume his knee isn't an issue now and they just need a full pre-season into him?
One of the coaches said after the VFL game against Norf that "we thought Liam looked to be really sharp from a movement perspective and has taken considerable strides after a hard 12 months through injury and rehab."

Other than getting TDK, Leek Aleer, Flyin Ryan (potentially), our FRDP, Fincher and maybe another surprise (Flanders etc), the following will be like new recruits: Pou, King and Henry.

Henry is looking like a genuine concern at this point. I hope his injuries aren't permanent. He looks so far off still. King looks positionally like a huge boost. Add 3 goals per game and we probably nab a few more wins this year. Howard probably as big an addition. We look a tall short.

He's not triggered at all, and the constant sniping at him is pathetic.

Over the last few years, he's right far more often than he's been wrong. Has a fantastic eye for spotting talent early, and (rightfully) doesn't blindly believe everything the club puts out.

I agree with this, Gringo is one poster on here who I value.

He mostly spends time giving thought to his responses and value adding.

Like me he can also snap quickly some times out of context but he is solid, invested and I would say a poster of character

Ross has lamented our lack of tall stocks all season. Dominated aerially all season. I can't even recall the last time we saw a big pack mark in our forward line by a Saint - Sharman Owens etc are just too undersized

Henry I think will be fine. I'm more worried about his spot in the 23 than his body tbh. Hall has overtaken him and we want to get Ryan alongside Higgins - he'd probably have to displace Hill in all honesty

But he kicked 2.3 against the Bombers last week in the VFL and looked really good. Needs a massive pre-season because he's a difference-maker when at his best even with all these other guys coming in

Yeah hopefully all of Henry, King & Pou can get back to their best.
Only a small slice from Pou
But all 3 have shown exciting traits when they're up & running.
Henry actually wowed me, for abit there.

His best footy was on a wing at Freo. Windhager might be the one who pushes him out.

Disagree. That was when his stats were most prolific with his 30+ disposals but he had no impact on games - it was short kick after short kick in a dead Freo game plan with the slowest ball movement you'll ever see

His best is when he's got time and space in the forward half imo - like he did against the Pies last year Round 2 before he did his string. That was electric. That's the type of player that wins you finals

Definitely a good patch but his consistent footy was own the wing.

He's put up a well explained and convincing piece of evidence. Just because you don't like what he's saying means you should pot him.
I'm happy to accept he's made some good points, and provided a lot of reading for us.

He can work on his delivery though. His abrasive and repetitive posts are just coming across as high and mighty trolling.

The main point is: no one in this forum knows with certainly what the numbers and structures of the contracts are.

What the media reports is irrelevant.

Only SOS and co knows and I'll trust them over anyone in this forum to manage it.

Let's all move on.

Yeah but didn't he also go onball for us in spurts, as a rover & use his speed out of the centre.
Happy to be wrong

It was a few cheap stats at times but he did get 3 Brownlow votes in a game.

We do have a vacancy in the half-back area.

Might be worth a crack if we are sorted up forward or we want to build his confidence.

Signed Nas. About to land TDK.

Looks like we grab Fincher and still hit the First round of this draft.

And all we are doing is arguing about things that MIGHT go wrong as opposed to being chuffed for what we have achieved and how far we have come since Ross came in.

Neutral supporters on the open Windhager board saying he is worth Pick 15-20.
Got to say I would take that.

I think between Boxshall, Hall, Garcia- we have him covered. Whereas a key forward like Ludowyke on the other hand- not so much!
Look at the picks 10-15 from the last decade. You really think Windhager is going to be worst than 7 of those players?

If he'd signed both 6 months ago he could have had them done at half the cost. You said he didn't think that they'd improve.
From everything I heard, there was an offer on the table early last year. Granted, around 750ish because there was no indication he’d take such a large leap. Which is why nobody, now with hindsight, can honestly say it was lowballing him.

However, money aside, NAS wasn’t signing anything that long ago. Look how long it took him to make the decision whether to stay or go home. Now add in a manager definitely pushing him to wait when he improved out of sight - realistically there is no way he would have signed earlier, although I know it’s just easier to lay the blame at the feet of SOS.

Let’s also remember, that “fancy dinner at the Bassat mansion” ( which turned out to be take away Japanese) took place 6 months ago.

But here’s the thing, if bloody SOS and AB had got Michito’s mother to cater, maybe it would have been signed and sealed that night!

If we are going all in to keep NAS it would be logical to sign his best mate
It's a concern he isn't signed

He did that in his first few years at Carlton with GWS players .... and he ended up putting together a list that missed a GF by a few kicks

Wouldnt be one list manager in the system who hasnt made some mistakes
Actually feel we are now becoming victims of our own success - finally.

Started with Toce (RIP), and now SoS and Dalrymple have started collecting players other clubs would want. A far cry from when we had to pay Newnes, Billings and uber spud Dunstan huge overs just to get to 95% of the cap.
Feel his timeliness in contracts is being hampered by these players development and form so balancing the SC is a harder task and we will inevitably lose a player or two Battle and maybe Windy).
Have been some big mistakes, Alison, letting Oscar Adams go was a mistake in hindsight, Van Es and Hotton didn't play a game and Keeler is a watch.
Dow and Carroll are also a watch.
Overall the rebuild has been strong, forged a strong first nations culture, with Hill as the elder ( added bonus that was not foreseen).
Ironically the player from the Blues that would have fit best was JSOS, but obviously the perception SoS only takes Carlton players and his son, prevented him from chasing him.

Nas has signed. So isn’t dependent on windy staying.

Windy staying is entirely up to him. He has a contract - he doesn’t have the dollars he wants.

The second part isn’t something that we need make sure occurs.

He is a good player and great clubman, but you do need more than that.

All of that is true.

I’ve seen him play 1 game where I thought gee he’s going to be a player, it was against Geelong.

Other than that when I’ve watched he’s been worse than ordinary, the past three weeks all shockers. I haven’t seen much to indicate he can play the intercept roll.

Someone at the club obviously thinks he can hence or offer to him, until he actually signs with us he’s fair game and I call them as I see them. If one of the wild rumours is true and we land SDK what would we do with Aleer.

If and when he signs then let’s hope it’s new club, new coach, new game plan and new Aleer.
the vision i am getting with aleer is tauru free to play forward and spoiling all those hundreds of intercept marks in our forward line that saints footy(the real saints footy, not the one we put on the glossy brochure)produces,im looking at mcgovern and barrass especially, sicily, stewart, these guys would play till there 55 if they played us every week

thats the vision im seeing, imagine if aleer can hold his own playing that role in defence, cut tauru loose on minimising those intercept marks up forward as well as in time taking plenty of marks himself, then higgins and whoever else is up there goes to work, rather than watching barrass go back waiting 5 seconds for the man to get on the mark because noone was near him when we hit him up & sending the ball back up the field and out of our scoring zone

Feel King is more of a concern than Henry. Henry just never had the fitness and confidence in his knee this year. Just started showing glimpses at the end.
Kings knees are like tissue paper. I fear for his longevity.

I would be a fan of trying him back out on the wing, or even deploying him at half-back in a distributor role.

I remember that patch of footy at Fremantle. Can be seen in the clearly in the stats below.

Stats look good but I remember that patch very vividly

Look at the win-loss during that period - ironically the two games below 20 disposals were both wins. His stats were inflated by the system he played in

You have to watch the games to understand my point but I wouldn't recommend it because Freo SUCKED
