Yeah, he had a few changers for sure, but a few nice grabs and spoils as well. Let’s see, but excited all round to see what the team can do. Very much coming to the view we need to keep windy now, he played really well.

TDK looked more likely to impact on today's game. That said Marshall lost taps but was very good otherwise. I don't think the ruck dominance made a massive difference to them. Their centre clearance mids are brutal and looked like men against boys.

If Aleer comes really cheap I have no issue but you wouldn't use anything in the first couple of rounds on him. He looks like he's borderline best 22.

He's now our best inside mid.

We can't afford for him to leave.
Didn't Lyon challenge NAZ to produce performances to enable him to run through the mids and perform to ability. He did and was renumerated accordingly.

Windhager was asked to do the same thing and has also responded by the sounds.
He should be renumerated accordingly especially with a 5 year offer on the table by a rival, but less attractive, club.

Second rounder IMO

If I'm St Kilda, I put 3 offer sheets to him.

1. 4 years, 650k. 4th year games trigger- play 45 games in first 3 years

2. 4 years 600k

3. 3 years 650k

Go from there. I could be persuaded to go up a little if I honestly believed he was being offered significantly more and might leave.

Does St Kilda have the money though? Can we actually compete with North? When you pay your A graders huge coin, you have to count pennies on the B graders.

I don't see him as a B grader going forward.

Would we consider trading our first pick for the TDK and JSOS compo with the promise not to bid on Dean? Drop 2 spots and get an extra pick
No way imo. Quality of this draft is already low as it is, can’t afford to let Carlton pick two players ahead of us and get Dean for nothing.

$100k per year is small change. You can literally clip $10k off 10 players and make it up. He's currently in our top 6 or 8 players and is improving at a very rapid rate. He might tap out just under A grade but he could easily also be an A grader and as soon as next year. I'd love him if he was at another club. Guys that are true two way mids with run and toughness are rare as.

Reid all day
What does that even mean? I was all in on Reid but we selected Travaglia. I am talking about where I think he plays going forward.
If we had Reid, I would discuss where he would be playing with him.
To be frank I still want Reid over Travaglia however the recruiters wanted run. Reid is a smart footballer, with plenty of skills that I love. His weakness and fit in our list is that he is one paced which has been our mids issue ( or one of) for 15 years.
Recruiters wanted to correct that, they have Hall, NAZ, Hugo, and want Wison and Travaglia to run through the mids. We have Steele, Macrae, Pou, and Windhager who are mid paced.

Windy isn't a B grader, he's our best inside midfielder, right now.

Most clubs would take Reid in a re-draft but you can't do that. Trav has the tools and just needs time. I thought he looked okay without starring today.

If Dalrymple thought Murphy Reid was too slow he needs to go and have a look at the goal he just kicked against the Bulldogs. Travaglia might become a decent player but Reid is already more advanced than most other kids playing the game. Just dumb recruiting in my view when the kid was under our eyes 24/7.

Dalrymple preaches that recruiters need to avoid looking for traits in players similiar to themselves, but I reckon thats exactly what he did when he chose Travaglia.

$100k per year is small change.
For 2026, $650k puts him in the top 25% or 30% of earners in the AFL

But by 2029 that could drop to top ~40%.

Hence why we should give multiple offers. Let him gamble on himself or let him have security.

I could be convinced to add another $50-$100k.

2 years is ridiculous though.
