2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

I think alot of us hope that Tauru plays CHF sooner rather than later.

I'm definitely in this camp, I still can't see how Aleer gets a spot, unless we go 4 tall backs, as Wilkie, JSOS and Aleer doesn't make sense to me in the same way that Wilkie, JSOS, Caminiti/Howard does. I'll back in the recruiters though cause they've done an amazing picking talent job over the past 3-4 years, even in the players who haven't come on board (Xerris being a good example of this)

So cynical me thinks Jsos was always coming to us. Had been worked out with the club (including his Dad) some time ago. Having clubs like Dogs and Pies interested makes the whole thing more palatable. We got an in-demand player rather than Dad looked after his son.

Having said that, I don't care. I think he makes us better and that's all I care about

But if I were a betting man....

I'm elated that we will hit 2026 going all guns blazing but realistically it's potentially blow the place up if this very high risk strategy goes sour.

Agree, but personally I’m good with that. You have to pick your moment then make your move. This seems as good a moment as any - promising kids, an acknowledged star, salary cap room, guys who are willing to come.

We did it in 2019 which was worth a shot, and failed mainly because we overestimated the list quality, had bad luck with injuries - and never quite had the star.

Having a big shot every 5-6 years seems about right during a rebuild.

are all still unsigned

Assuming all of them go except for Windy, that gives us 4 list spots for (potentially) Ryan, Aleer, Fincher via the draft and then one more player.

Jsos in surely - surely means Tauru is going forward which would be brilliant. Can't wait for the Brains Trust track watching reports saying he's training with the forwards.

In the forward group I kind of fear for Owens - I have huge wraps on the guy but his field and goal kicking is not great (his goal kicking accuracy is actually good on the stats sheet but I would love to see that with OOF and 'didn't make the journey' included). So yeah I just wonder about his role. Disposal by foot not good enough for wing and we don't seem to want to use him as a big inside mid.

If Windy actually does leave (extremely doubtful) to go to North, Dees or even the Giants when he sees what is happening at the Saints right now, I will be completely floored.
Pretty sure the kids got more sense than that.

Add Carrol to that list.
At this stage we have 0 spots if you say TDK is replacing Cordy, JSOS replacing Webster, Boyd & McLennan were rookies so have only opened up rookie spots.
I can’t see us signing any of the guys OOC except Windy.
