Great post
It’s fck all to do with our draft stuff ups
More to do with how many “free swings” clubs get at it due to system that’s flawed
Don’t forget one of the arguments for keeping the academy’s is to decrease the go home factor. If we loose nas to the go home factor it should back our argument up. Why do only the northern states get to guard against the go home factor

Have geelong, Hawthorn, Dogs, Pies, Dees & tigers all been operating in a different system to us?

Because they have either managed to win flags or rebuilt into a position to challenge over the last 10 years.

Take what you want from this. I live in SA and this is coming from a Port supporter so no idea how credible it is.

End of last year, Nas pretty much made up his mind that a return home and Port will be the club of choice. One of the reasons was actually Ken Hinkley and the way treats and develops relationships with his players.

Obviously spanner in the works with the whole Ken leaving and Josh Carr taking over (unknown waters) has put massive ?? To the decision. Nothing more to report, but that has had a big impact on Nas and Port. Crows were never an option to begin with.
I whipped down to the local tram stop and the general consensus is Nas stays.

Also many questioning who in their right mind would voluntarily move back to Adelaide, once is once too many. Lots of pedo, Snowtown references, quite illuminating really.

I have no idea how credible they are so take it with a grain of salt but many also mentioned that Kenny was preferable to Josh Carr. Last words ringing in my ears were toxic algae, don’t drink the water, haven’t you heard of zoom.

I know this is whistling into the wind - but I think the only way we become attractive is if we become a powerhouse - and we have some sort of access and base in St Kilda itself.

St Kilda is a highly desirable and famous location (let’s forget about the drugs and red light lore and look at the size of the economy there)

Desirable!

Meantime, let’s not kid ourselves that for NAS, Adelaide would be a better and more attractive proposition.

But then!

Wait.

Because the Saints right now have some momentum and the Ross thing is still a beacon of hope. I don’t know how that goes when Enwright starts taking over - if he does.

TBH I’ll be really disappointed if this RTB reign is just a ‘soft transition’ and not a full-blooded assault.

Lot of smart arse people hiding behind keyboards it seems. Someone posts a bit of information and people are treating it like they have a lost a first born child (Don't think you should be breeding in the first place).

Funny place this - Love hearing the its everyone against us and the reason why we have 1 flag. By some we can never do wrong and the whole world is out to target poor little old St Kilda and disadvantage them.

People are allowed to disagree with your take without you getting all pissy about it.

But that’s the point right isn’t it? Exclusive access to the best talent is the issue.

Ie
Sam Darcy
Ashcroftx2
Daicos
JUH before his blow up.
Heeney

The purpose of this draft is for these guys to the worst teams. Not teams challenging for top 4 or who have just won the premiership. It defies any kind of logic.
Countless Cats f/s
Another Darcy soon…

Even Chris Scott is agreeing with Ross - they had a good run but obviously nothing coming up 🤣

Garcia is a poor user at this stage but then so are a lot of the very best midfielders. He's the kind of player that lifts his teammates with his passion and appetite for the contest.
Also never misses his chance to fly the flag, which is something the team has been lacking for way too long

Mate it was an ordinary negative post from snowy off the tram, what did you expect.

Would you like to hear what some of my random mates think ?.

Taking the "excuses" approach:

Cats cheat.

Hawks team was built on the old priority pick system the fell apart. Haven't done anything since.

Dogs have father sons. Won their only flag on the back of the most insane month of footy ever plus Tom Boyd going nuclear for 2 games.

Pies have father sons AND 1st round NGA. They don't win without Moore, IQ and the Daicos boys.

Dees were literally hand picked by the AFL. They were given every possible off field advantage to help set them up. They also have the GOAT ruck.

Tigers had to dump a former #1 draft pick and club champion PLUS a handful of picks, to roll the dice on Nank, Prestia & Caddy, AND play a style of footy that lead to rules changes AND draft the greatest finals player of all time and they still went into 2/3 grand finals as underdogs.

So yeah, all we need is a couple of free first rounders, a game changing style of play, an incredible run of form and to find a player that is in the GOAT discussion for their position.

Or we find a way to cheat like the Cats do.

He went into quarantine for 2 weeks up in the GC in 2020 and then spent a couple of months in SA watching SANFL and juniors.
From that I can confidently say we got NAZ, Pou, Sharman, probably Keeler.
Dontvknow if he was involved with Wilkie in 2019.

Don’t want to start an internet fight but I think Wilkie was a terrific pick up for the club.

We have a problem when it comes to key position players at both ends of the ground and im watching our very own 198cm Oscar Adams who we thought was usless and delisted him play for GC currently.

We blame academies, draft quality and everything else under the sun in every press conference. Someone might want to tell the President and the coach about what is happening internally with the way we have wasted numerous top 18 draft picks while every club around us has drafted elite level talent. Since 2014 until 2021, we hang out hat on Max Hall yet get blind sided by players who should be at their absolute peak right now in McCartin, Billings, Dunstan, Acres, Gresham, Coffield, Clark can also add in King (Rozee, B.King, Smith and Butters all top 12 picks after Max) thus far that have been a failure. We have hit only 1 elite player in Nas with years of not only top 18 picks but either top 5 or top 10.

I can't think of a club who has a worse strike rate then us when it comes to recruiting top 18 picks since 2014.
Have you returned to put the boot in having secretly gone over to the dark side ?. You’re sounding a lot like someone who doesn’t have a good word to say about us. You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to disagree.

As to hiding behind keyboards, please spare me the faux bravado.

That’s an disingenuous comment and patently untrue.

Not ONE poster on the board has said that a lot of our pain is not self inflicted. Not one. We all know our history - some really bad decisions and, yes, a fair amount of bad luck, with players retiring prematurely etc.

It does not, however, alter one iota, the farcical inequities of a so-called professional competition. Not even considering the usual discussion points of F/S and NGAs etc ; consider the fact an ex-Cats board member ran the AFL investigation into their (below the board) player payments and found no wrongdoing. Seriously?

Murphy Reid doing his Rising Star chances no harm. Personally I would rather him than Harley Reid. Harley spends his entire games in dick measuring contests trying to be a tough guy. Winning the ball or defensive efforts are not his priority.

If only there was a sign Nas; if only there was a sign 🤔

Okay, ignore the media and just let us fans know what you’re doing. Wiggle your finger if you’re staying 😉

One of the worst things about modern discourse - especially online, is this "if you think 'x' then you must be 'y'".
How many times has happy clapper been rolled out on here at anything remotely positive.
Such a low intelligence way of approaching things. Has ruined the way so many things are discussed, and now threatens to further ruin the forum.

Off topic but this seems the most active thread to get an answer.

What days/time can you see the boys have a decent training session next week? Flying down from northern nsw for a holiday on the Mornington Peninsula tomorrow.

I would take notice of this if you weren't such a Nazi 🙂
