I'd be fuming if that happened with us.

If the club says "one final year" that's the coaches cue to leave. All this has done is wasted a year of Ports development under their next coach.

Flip side is the bar is set low for Carr, career saver. Top 4 finishes the previous 2 years, questions would be asked if this was a first year as coach

Pies have been helped recently by Father sons, them beating us in the GF wasn't a result of father sons etc

Geelong did have a few father sons when they beat us ill grant you that. However every club has the same access to father sons so again its not like we dont have equal opportunity. What the cats done well is have sustained success while we crash and burned which has since enabled them to attract talent.

Tigers??? They have been one of the most successful sides of the modern era. They have won 3 flags in 8 years and are rebuilding now. By the looks of it, they have nailed their picks and have rebuilt an entire list in what 2 or 3 years while arguably we have been trying for 15 years and are no further infront.

The reason we haven't been able to attract talent is simply put, we have not been successful. If our fortunes were different and we jagged 2 or 3 flags like we should have and ended up say a Geelong, im sure we would have been viewed different and a much more attractive place then what we have hanging over our heads as the most unsuccessful sporting club.

The point is people are indicating that Trav over Reid was a mistake given we needed a mid

But there was no evidence from today to highlight that Reid as a midfielder would've been a better pick than Trav

Boxshall has looked more of a midfielder than Reid this year, same with Garcia.
Not saying he won't go past them in the midfield, but both are ahead AS MIDFIELDERS, presently.
This is not to knock Reid, an excellent get by Freo, but we have a plethora of like types in Dow, Carroll, Clark, even Boxshall, and Garcia, so a decision needed to be made. Travaglia has got more ex factor but is behind Reid this year.

I haven't read anyone bagging Travaglia, I think you are being a bit precious.

Reid has played every game this year in a top 8 side and is rated 3rd in the comp for his ball use going inside 50. I think that equates to a pretty positive future.

They have different strengths, but if I'm honest I wouldn't have had Travaglia in the top 20. That's why Dalrymple is getting paid to do his job and we are just mugs with opinions.

i havent watched too much of reid, but from what I've seen he has been much more damaging compared to his draft year. He's been choosing to kick more inside 50 and has been hitting targets, that was my main issue with him, he was always going sideways. Still not sure what his ceiling is, athletically speaking, not sure if he has the contested game to play pure mid, or athletic enough to take the game by the scruff, but again I haven't watched enough

but definitely too early to compare him to trav, still think trav could be anything, including half back flanker with a loopy kick, only time will tell. I think trav will really benefit from a few preseasons, he's a rake atm

Well, I don't think so. Not for us or other Melbourne clubs. Other than as place-holders' for wheeling and dealing. I just posted about how this did not reap Richmond the triple flags - it was trading and tactics.

I agree - we loose too often.

So maybe you are saying RTB loses too many games and fair enough, I agree. But we do have a poor list, in its current state. I think that is the dilemma - for sure.

I thought we'd all be mature enough to admit that we've all done it lmao. I knew a guy who was playing center half back, grabbed the ball and snapped at the goals - thinking he was a hero. Wrong way dickhead

No… never done it. I’ve got kids who play little basketball. Even they understand passing directions.

The only other time I saw it happen was when Brookes mixed up who he was playing for and protected the ball for Port in st Kilda colours.

Club is where it is because of its bad management and will never get anywhere until we get it right, weak to blame everything else

Nas goes to Port this year - it's a proper homesick go-home "I want to play with mates" statement. He'd struggle to pick a worse year in terms of where they're at going forward and compensation for us.

I dont understand why this is so hard for people to understand.

Two things can be true. We have made poor decisions as a club that have largely contributes to where as are. But.... other clubs have made similar poor decisions but been able to avoid the bottom due to the advantages they receive in the current draft/trade system. Sydney and Collingwood are two prime examples of this. The system gives them room to make poor decisions compared to us, who need to make every decision a good one to move forward.

Making mistakes also doesnt prevent us from advocating for change to the system to make it a more equal playing field for every club. We have as much right as any other club to air our grievances with the draft and state any changes we think could benefit the competition as a whole. This notion that we have to wait until a certain level of success before fighting for equality is what will keep us down and small.

We have a problem when it comes to key position players at both ends of the ground and im watching our very own 198cm Oscar Adams who we thought was usless and delisted him play for GC currently.

We blame academies, draft quality and everything else under the sun in every press conference. Someone might want to tell the President and the coach about what is happening internally with the way we have wasted numerous top 18 draft picks while every club around us has drafted elite level talent. Since 2014 until 2021, we hang out hat on Max Hall yet get blind sided by players who should be at their absolute peak right now in McCartin, Billings, Dunstan, Acres, Gresham, Coffield, Clark can also add in King (Rozee, B.King, Smith and Butters all top 12 picks after Max) thus far that have been a failure. We have hit only 1 elite player in Nas with years of not only top 18 picks but either top 5 or top 10.

I can't think of a club who has a worse strike rate then us when it comes to recruiting top 18 picks since 2014.

Adams has 24 disposals from 4 games,that's 1.5 disposals ave per qtr.
How does that make him a lost talent for us

Given successive governments appalling wastage of taxpayer money, anyone failing to take all opportunities to legally minimise the amount of tax they pay needs to consult a mental health professional, urgently!
