2025 NFNL All Divisions Tipping Competition

OK, how long was that off season. Seems it went for longer than it should and there is no doubt there is a lot of local players ready to play and supporters itching it stand in the cold with a froffy and enjoy the local footy.

Simple rules:

• Pick the winning team, get a point.
• Pick a draw get 5 points.
• Winner is one with most points at the end of the season.
• Tips obviously must be in prior to start of first game of the round.
• If you miss tips for three weeks in a row you will be removed from ladder.
• You can tip early if going away and happy to be PM'ed tips.
• Decisions final.

I have a sponsor so the winner will get a prize and the person who selects the most 15 out of 15 (tough gig but will keep more in the competition for longer…) will also get one.

This is all just for fun and maybe some good banter.

Well, here we go.

Banyule v Montmorency – Mont recruited very well and will be keen to kick the season off with a W to show last years GF shows no scars. Banyule have a new direction with a well credentialed coach so expect a decent game here.
South Morang v West Preston Lakeside – New boys will be up for it early with unfurling of flag but chooks keen to be back in finals in 25.
Heidelberg v North Heidelberg – Like many, cannot see me tipping against the Tigers too often but this is typically a classic fixture.
Bundoora v Eltham – Big questions on the Bulls rebuild. Classic early season game that could be defining.
Hurstbridge v Greensborough – This could be a ripper, both seem to be travelling well off season. Tipping a real close one.
Macleod v Diamond Creek – Team that has been in so many GFs they are desperate and recruited, team coming down and want to go back up. For those going this should be a cracker.
Thomastown v Panton Hill – Thomo promise a lot and fall over late in seasons, they will come out firing at home to kick start their season.
Old Paradians v Whittlesea – I’m calling an upset early. Not as confident as others with Whittlesea and the eagerness of the new guys, unfurling their flag, close one.
Watsonia v St Mary’s – Not too sure where both these are, Watsy have a lot of new ins but needed them.
Lower Plenty v Northcote Park – Can the young Bears repeat their great run in 24. Has a cougar rebuild happened?
Kilmore v Lalor – Just think this is a simple one.
Heidelberg West v Old Eltham – West brought in a few, turtles lost a fair bit of experience.
Laurimar v Fitzroy Stars – A game many would want to watch, Power not disgraced in my opinion last year being relegated and their young pace is exciting and a legend at FF near impossible to stop. Stars have a lot of Stars and flag favourites for a reason.
Mernda v Epping – Should be another cracker to be honest. Some rivalry here and some recruits willing to show their stuff.
Reservoir v Ivanhoe – I have no idea. A huge, recruited team v a team that missed finals by points. I reckon many interested in what Resa produce.

Banyule v Montmorency – I think Mont will come out firing after Grand Final
disappointment from season 24. Expect a good game here, can Banyule take the next step? Had a couple of decent battles recently but I think Mont by 14.
South Morang v West Preston Lakeside Interested to see how Morang go - big step up. Tipping WPL make a statement early.
Heidelberg v North Heidelberg – Bergs. Enough said. Tough for NH first up but will trouble sides this season.
Bundoora v Eltham – Interesting round 1 contest. Tipping Eltham to open their account first up.
Hurstbridge v Greensborough – Arguably match of the round. Could go either way, I’ll go Hurstbridge by a kick.

Macleod v Diamond Creek – Intriguing contest. Diamond Creek been ultra consistent for better part of a decade. Macleod freshly promoted, might need to see teams first but will pick Macleod on a hunch.
Thomastown v Panton Hill - I think Thomastown but if recent memory serves correct both sides have had some reasonable battles in recent times. Thommo by 24.
Old Paradians v Whittlesea – Whittlesea to get it done over the newly promoted OP’s.
Watsonia v St Mary’s – St Mary’s traditionally quiet with recruits. Will go with Watsy, reckon they are due against SM and desperate for a win first up.
Lower Plenty v Northcote Park – NP in a close one here I reckon. If they can stay fully fit they will fancy their chances of a finals berth.

Kilmore v Lalor – Kilmore too good.
Heidelberg West v Old Eltham – West to get it done. Interesting to see their new recruits and some old faces returning.
Laurimar v Fitzroy Stars - Wow. What a cracker first up, Laurimar I expect to be top 3. Fitzroy though, I reckon win this. Will be a great rd 1 clash.
Mernda v Epping – I think Epping here, but wouldn’t surprise if Mernda get the job done. Will go Epping, expecting another good game.
Reservoir v Ivanhoe – Will go Ivanhoe. But the buzz out of Reservoir is hard to ignore, interested to see how the Mustangs go first up. Could they cause a boilover?
