So if we move someone- like Sholl- to the rookie list, then we miss out on taking anyone else in the rookie draft.

It’s Disappointing given the success we used to have in the rookie draft in the past.

We're taking a main list draft pick instead - so all it means is that we get to pick earlier.

Cook might be an AFL player going by some of his late season form.

We know Jones won't be.
I would hope the player who isn't good enough gets cut ahead of the other.

I honestly doubt either is, at this point. Cook’s 24 next season, probably doesn’t have much growth left in him

Welsh has been on the list for less than 12 months

I appreciate that he only 19. My concern is his lack of improvement over the last 2 years.

As a 17 year old he was touted as a possible top 10 draft pick. He spent 2024 playing in our SANFL team and slipped to the rookie draft. He then turned up at his first official preseason in poor shape. His 2025 SANFL season was poor.

If he was in this year’s draft would anyone select him?

I really hope he returns to preseason in good shape and he has a strong 2026 season. Sadly I doubt that this will happen.

I get the reservations ....and nothing you've said is incorrect

But let's give a 19 yo a second PS to see if the penny has dropped, and he knuckles down .....this PS will be telling IMO

Not really wanting it seems the most likely reason, as you say.

We should delist and try someone else. He's had his chance and his talent and potential isn't at the level to persevere; plus his attitude is a big red flag

I'll say something, he's starting from a long long way back, he's really done very little of note since his underage year and that's a fair way back in the rear vision mirror now.

2 yearsin effect, because he spent the bulk of his draft year training and playing with us.

I think how he turns up for pre-season training and his early SANFL form will be the big decider.

His 1st season was actually better than this season which is a bit of a worry.

This is actually a pretty big cleanout in one year. Much of it should have happened last year of course.

Probably stagnates at 10-12. We have a fair few 24-27 year old players.

Key position players always take longer. You have to give them time.

Generally speaking, you’re only hoping to use about 30-35 players on your list each year. That leaves 7-12 spots that you should be using pretty much for those speculative picks.

Drafting a KPP then binning them after 1 year is impatient and dumb.

Now if he was an underdeveloped tall skinny KPP you might have a point....he is none of that.

Need to give him at least a few more years, especially as our development is questionable to say the least
