2000% this.

Especially bad since weve had people on SEN all week saying how much they cant wait now footies back. What an absolute farce.

Its the same 4 or 5 blokes doing all the work (Crippa, TDK, Weiters) every week. This was the worst game ive every seen Harry play. He wasnt just having a bad day, he looked like hed already had enough and didnt want to be there.

Something is fundamentally broken at our club, and its not minor.

25 consecutive years of membership this year, and not even a mailmerge email saying thanks. Nothing. I didnt want a freebee but acknowledgement would have been nice. This club is rotten to the core and ive had enough.
They’ve got 95k people sucked in to believing they know how to run a footy club.

Culture problem, skill problem, tactical problem. Problems problems problems.

41 points up and all I was telling my mates at the game was we look average, Richmond are crap and a good team would be hammering us.

The Richmond children then realised late in the 2nd quarter that in fact the scoreboard flattered us and that they had our measure. For the next two and a half quarters they ran us off our feet and made us look third rate as we are. A bunch of children largely.

Not even upset anymore. We’re half a season away from calling another rebuild. The competition is so even that so many have or are about to go past us. It’s culture, its system and its skill. We have 5 or 6 top line players (so do most other teams) and the rest are shit along with the coaches. We’ve rebuilt to average bordering on turning to shit.

The bloke is the most conditional footballer I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t play on anyone and shirks contests routinely. After a putrid loss like that heads need to role. I’d be making an example of him. Sadly I genuinely question whether Voss has the guts to drop a senior player.
It has taken Austin 5 drafts to recruit a KPD ( O'Farrel) when it has been a deficiency since 2020.

One of the very few positives.

Doc came on and did his best trying to save a sinking ship.

14 touches in the last quarter. He wasn't necessarily effective, but at least he played with some ****ing heart.
And yet half of those disposals were inefficient.

It’s all good getting the ball, going at 50% disposal efficiency doesn’t help us though.

Surely we’re past our senior players just showing ‘heart’?

For the record, I know tonight isn’t his fault but I think this is all part of the larger problem.

Also…
TDK best on ground by a mile
Weitering was sensational
Camporeale brilliant first game
Silvagni solid comeback, particularly looked good forward in the last
Saad had a good game
Ollie Hollands was great
Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Hewett Acres had a crack as usual
11 good players ?!

I rocked up to the game tonight when the players had smashed through the banner and were doing their warmups.

My eyes were nearly bugging out....hardly a single kick was finding the mark even during the warmup!!! Just from that moment I was starting to feel a bit concerned....either we were being complacent before the match had even started, or we just still haven't grasped the most basic fundamentals of the game.

And that was just the *ing warmup!!!! What the * have we been doing over the summer?!?! It's something that has been frustrating us year after year after year, AND it showed again tonight.....kicks under no pressure that couldn't even find the mark. And these are highly paid full time athletes who are meant to be the best in the land.

Imagine losing to a bunch of children, retreads, and hasbeens.

And one of them does a cartwheel in your face.
Thats 21st century Carlton alright

Not sure if mentioned, but Doc as sub works, but everyone was so bad, that he probably starts...

14 touches in a quarter. Should have had 2 goals too.

Had 2 clear hits at goal - 1 super easy - as a senior player to steady the ship and couldn't do it. Had horrendous turnovers. Love him, but he came on and absolutely worsened the panic.

Outcoached again. This time by a guy in his second year. The standards keep dropping.

We have really faltered by not looking deep at the coaching set up and bringing in quality and experienced personnel around Voss. Our assistant coaches ain't much chop. And Voss is a poor match day coach with little tactical nous. Basically the diametrical contrast to Sam Mitchell.
Hit nail head!

Agreed. If we’re not yet at the point where Doc is only playing to provide the club with feel good stories to distract us from how shit we are, it’s getting bloody close.
Unfortunately it feels like Doc is one of those professionals who doesnt know when to retire because they think they have more in them

During his prime he was a brilliant half back who i loved watching. Unfortunately now I think his body has had far to much happen to it and its just not able to do what it use to

Unfortunately I don't think the club or Doc seems to quite realise this. We know he has a great footy mind but when ur body has had enough it really restricts your ability to use those assets the way you want

It has been said a few times already but in my 25+ years of watching AFL, I don't think I have seen poor skill execution like that over a two and a half quarter period, of one game. Credit to the Tigers their pressure was solid, especially in the dying stages of the game but we gifted them the game with our inability to hit a target by foot or with a 2-3m hand pass. I specifically remember Campo's hand passing to Haynes (not holding against the kid as other senior players sold him into so much heat tonight with terrible disposal and decision making), Haynes' drop mark, doc's handball to no one and JSOS's chip kick off the ground before three quarter time as 4 instances directly leading to Tigers goals inside their own 50. I'm sure there were more costly errors from Haynes, Mcgovern and probably Saad too. That is literally the game right there, despite how poor we were for a half. A top 8 team would have won by 60+ points based on our second half performance.

What's even more baffling is the skills first the first quarter were on point. Looked like we were in cruise control - controlling the tempo of the game, hitting up short leads and working into space for one another. That second half was some of the worst footy I have seen and there have been some terrible footballers walk through our doors at Optus/Visy/Ikon in my life time. I just have never seen a drop off in skills like that during a game ever from any afl team.

Come to think of it I don't really feel like the Tigers beat us or did anything special. We honestly beat ourselves with poor effort but more tellingly really really poor skills.

I doubt Haynes has had a worse game of footy in his life. Hoping he can offer a lot more this season or Kemp will be in that backline very quickly!

McGovern is a defender that loathes contact. I thought with Haynes slotting into defence that Gov could go forward. Unfortunately both he and Haynes are deplorable.

Weitering and JSOS will carry that backline.

Newman is a HUGE loss. Puts his body on the line. The type of player we severely lack.

Walsh. Mate, seriously. The errant disposal is frightening. Really fading and badly.

McKay was getting out bodied by a junior defender. Really is a soft forward.

TDK - would say that was the worst 28 disposal game I've seen. Out muscled routinely. Nank pantsed him.

The "smalls". Yikes. They all disappeared after quarter time.

We reverted to our old ways after quarter time - bomb it long on the heads of our forwards.

Voss won't survive.
Hard to disagree with anything you said

It is no coincidence that we started winning after we threw the gameplan out the window and gave the players free reign to trust their instincts. But this was back in 2023. Another camp Curnow incoming?

I have said this a few times, and I'll say it again: we aren't going anywhere as long as Brad Lloyd is football operations manager. He has the final say on who is working with Voss. I am not going to single out Voss as much as our line coaches, how many do we have again? We must have the worst forward line coach in the game. Get rid of all of them.

I dont doubt Haynes tries but he looks like a 40+ year old out there.

Its on our selectors that he played. Ideally he'd be in the VFL and be emergency depth.

40 inside 50's for 2 goals at one stage. Debacle
Our inside 50s entries were shit, our forwards were shit and richmond backline played excellent.

More than 60 inside 50s! That's more than enough to win.

If our players keep bombing it like then we need another tall forward. Why do our senior players bomb it long all the time? (Cripps excluded).
