Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t the Jsos issues run deeper than years of mismanaging him?

Pretty sure the breakdown between sos and the club is also playing a major role is Jsos choosing to leave them.
I thought he signed on after his father left. I remember thinking, he's certainly loyal after what they did to SOS.

If we dont bring home the bacon this year I say retire more of the older players ...let Cameron go and start a re build

Hopefully bobby stays...his still so young !

I am fairly confident that butters is a free agent next year. But I would prefer we trade for him this year, we can find the trade assets if he are able to convince him to pick us.
You’re right he is - but a restricted FA meaning port would be in a position to match and force the trade, which I imagine they would as I doubt the FA compensation would appease them

I think we have to face the fact that we will at some stage undergo atleast a 2-3 year rebuild. We need to build a midfield depth like the one we used to have in 2010-2013.

By the time nick turns 25-26, we need to have
1) another A+ mid who can share the load with nick ( our new version of swan and pendles)
2) we need the next generation of key defenders who will anchor the next premiership tilt.look at adelaide, they are beautifully poised with worrell, curtain and keane .
3)need to build a midfield depth similar to that of brisbanes, they have about 7 genuine mids who can rotate through the midfield, each with their own unique skillset.
4) continue maintaining our fleet of attacking and dangerous small forwards.
5)have west, mcarthy play about 50 games each, and maybe have ben king alongside them.

Set our selves up for a 5-7 year period where we are a genuine premiership threat in each of those years.

Depends on how bad they are next year. If they decline to say, bottom 4-5, which is every chance with a new coach, and Butters chooses to go to a contender, they might be better off taking the single early pick than multiple later ones.

one gun mid and one gun key defender and we are right to keep trying our luck
and they dont have to be high profile to be a gun, just high quality

we did well last year to increase our layer of mature, reliable , good quality role players. so we arent that thin.

Pendles. Howe and Sidey have agreed to terms for a new contract for 2026

Not sure why you’ve translated “under $700k” as $700k. Regardless, in the new CBA $650-700k is barely above average, so no idea why you’d regard it as horrible unless your mind is stuck in 2022.

Any deal Checkers is offered will have absolutely 0 to do with Silvagni or salary cap issues. Purely on his age and probability of bringing in a younger key tall like Ben King in 2026. Our cap is in a good place right now.
Mate I was venting. My issue is potentially losing Mihocek. You might be cool with that. I'm not.

I’d prefer we didn’t, Checkers is one of my favourites. Vent all you want, but don’t be surprised when someone points out that you’re adding 2+2 and getting 5.

It doesn't require so much analysis. There was an article on it. Losing Mihocek is balls. Getting Silvagni is meh. I was venting. I don't know why you need to be such an arseh*le in your responses. Maybe you should do the self reflecting.

So the Silvagni news is now coming from Mitch Cleary who is one of the best. Pretty much said the Blues know they will lose him. Didn’t specify a destination. Apparently Jack is more concerned with a better environment and a winning culture over money.

We are exactly that.

The only quotes I have read from Voss sound the exact opposite to what you are suggesting -

Jack’s had a really important role shift this year," he said. "It’s been a real win for us to see where he’s gone from forward to back.

"I want to be really clear, he’s a very important player for us.

"We value what he’s done, we value him at the football club and we’re certainly hoping he plays out the rest of his career with us.”

I read it as Voss was critical only of McRae, not to mention pretty weird.

“Regardless of what Craig did, it’s not something we would do, and we’ll respect the privacy of the player."

I think he was referring to McRae saying he had met Silvagni, not the meeting itself. Which is a very odd thing to say, because what it means is that if Voss was asked that same question about a player meeting, he is saying he would lie to protect a player's privacy.

Reckon there would surely be zero angst in the "locker room". Players meet other clubs all the time.

But then again, Carlton's loserishness could create weird internal vibes.
When McRae was asked about Jack, if he responded “I wouldn’t comment about that sort of stuff to the media”, is that the best way of sitting on the fence do you think? He’s not confirming, he not lying, and he’s just playing a straight bat.
Whats your thoughts?
