Not even entering his peak years as a midfielder? Player that can kick on both sides of the body, what do we get back?

I don't know. I am just saying that if he gets benched more and more and even pushed back into the VFL then he will lose value not just to himself but to what we could get for him. For example, we aint getting shit for Phillips. Powell is playing a prominent role atm but you would expect McKercher and FOS to move into the midfield group soon so who is going out? I don't think it will be LDU, Wardlaw or Sheezle.

If we can fool another AFL club that Simpkin has currency above pick 20 I take back everything I’ve said about Gonzo Rawlings. I’d say our skipper has been given the tap on the shoulder - which can happen when you kick the ball off your shin.

I like Simpkin and always thought he could have made a really good pressure half forward but we dicked around with his career because we dropped the ball on recruiting and developing inside midfielders. He did his best holding up, but you can't realistically be a sub 80kg inside mid and not get ragdolled by the bigger inside mids and unfortunately that is what happened.

His Ziebell-esque blazing out of the middle is another issue, but I have serious doubts that our coaches had demanded him or any other midfielder stop doing that otherwise someone would have made some kind of effort to stop doing it.

He actually looked half decent as winger. I find it outrageous that there is a bunch of blokes in the AFL who will demand a trade because they are being played as winger or half forward flanker.

Hahaha. Thought this as well. At least jy isn’t our best player.

Now I know there’s some strong opinions around here about our captain but I do like him. However, I wouldn’t be opposed to getting his bloated contract off our books.

We moved him out of the midfield at his request so he could contribute in other places - like Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath.

The issue is he is going to get even less midfield time that what he is unhappy with so... if he wants to play a midfield role then it has to be somewhere else.

Reckon Jy would be open to a move to the Dees. With Trac potentially on the way out, linking up with Oliver and Gawn could really suit him. Can’t see him holding a midfield role at the Roos next year.
