2026 AFL Fixture

Pretty horrendous fixture when you've got young kids! There's **** all games I can take my son to.

Those late season fixtures without dates currently are our hope.

I believe the game against Carlton will fall during the NSW school holidays, meaning my own league is also on a bye.
Might be a good chance to take the young bloke down for a game, especially if it's a handy Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Mostly decent draw. 3 5 day breaks is a bit rough though and didn't think the AFLPA allowed that. Also there is the strange 2 and a half week gap of games between round 2 on Thursday against Sydney and Easter Monday
3 is the maximum number of 5 day breaks a club can have, which means we aren't able to have any in the run home. Which might cause some headaches with the AFL with fixturing. Also might mean we have plenty of Thursday and Fridays in run home too....

I think we've done pretty well with that fixture. The points that make it hard are usually 1. Who you double up against 2. Who you host, vs travel to.

Double Ups.
Essendon - Should be 2x good wins here
Melbourne - In a rebuild with new coach another 2x wins. Have them in Tasmania where they have never played.
Collingwood - This year they will slide again. They had a poor finish to the year and have not improved their list. Should get 2x wins.
GWS - Similarly ranked side should win at least 1 of them, but like 2025 can certainly win both. Also Rd16 is their ONLY MCG game all year.
WB - We seem to have their measure. They were flat track bullies last year thrashing poor teams and not up to it against the good sides. Still a lot of talent and Darcy missing a good chunk kept them out of finals. Confident of at least 1 win but we can get both. No Marvel game too, so it's Adelaide oval and MCG which suites us.
Gold Coast - Our biggest challenge in the double ups, side is improving and have recruited pretty well. Thankfully not in Darwin so slightly better odds. And Tasmania we should start favourites.

Travel - This is about as good as it gets. No away games in Adelaide, no Darwin, no SCG, no Geelong. I think Adelaide, Sydney and Geelong will top 8 sides so to get all of them once at home is a big win. No Dogs at Marvel too.

GWS - We can win there, not so hostile like Perth or Adelaide.
Bulldogs - In Adelaide so neutral venue
Fremantle - Tough ask. Biggest trip in the game and hostile crowd for a night game. 8 day break leading in.
Suns - Tough opponent but off the bye so should give it a good shake.
Brisbane - Always a challenge but late in the year, so depending on how teams are tracking could be interesting.
West Coast - young side at the end of the season, can't see this game troubling us at all.

I assume they have those games pencilled in for dates but pending ladder positions and performance they will scrap them.

Collingwood Vs Brisbane or Adelaide vs Giants could be top 10 deciders or nothing games if teams have poor years. Stkilda vs Suns another.

I'm surprised we aren't scheduled to play cats twice. Should aim for a 16/17 win season and lock a top two position.
They are 8 point games. AFL are worried we will win both.

Dreaming of the day we don’t have to play both Gold Coast and Freo away - both nearly unbeatable at home and rubbish away…

Geelong given the cruisy run home again of Melbourne, Essendon, North and Richmond which will soften them for a finals loss…

We should have beaten Freo. We will get them next year.

Probably cop some on the TBC matches one would think. Hopefully not too many.
Amazing to think that in three years time we have gone from owning the off Broadway late arvo Sunday match to 8 prime time matches!

Credit to Sam, he's built a brand of footy that not only wins matches but is bloody fun to watch for neutral supporters as well.

Sometimes I think AFL coaches forget they are in the entertainment industry, they have a responsibility to entertain as well as win.

C.Scott takes his 70% home and away winning entertaining record seriously.

His 47% winning entertaining record in finals, not so much.
