I have just delivered a massive diatribe to the two other Essendon supporters at work who have pooh-poohed these two latest Rangjections (topical!) into the side raising the following key points:

  • People want to play for Essendon
  • The 2000 premiership side was heavily loaded with rangas, and could only be toppled by a side captained by a ranga
  • Players who will combust as soon as they step into the sunlight are a great shock tactic. My extensive research in the past 30 seconds has led me to the interesting fact that Adam Cooney has never played in natural light
  • **** you all
This has been met with varying levels of acceptance and understanding.

Red heads are important.

Old rowing coach always wanted a ranga in his crews.

This will be on my headstone when I die from severe skin burns next time I go outside

VelvetSledge and lysp can we change the picture to have Jono's head on Paddy's body??

It would just seem right.

Let's hope Jono's missus doesn't create any friction with the WAGS like our last rucks wife!!!

Was going to have him holding Ryder's dismembered corpse actually.

I really rate Giles but I'm not sure I like what it signifies.

To get Giles we presumably told him he'd get games despite Bellchambers being on our list.

To give Giles games means that he either plays alongside Bellchambers, Daniher and Carlisle which will leave the forwardline slow as s**t or Hurley will switch with Carlisle which leaves the defence slow as s**t (and fails to take advantage of the clear strengths and lessen the obvious weaknesses in their respective games).

Or we just lied to Giles about the opportunity that was really available. Or, I suppose, Giles is just happy to continue to have a shot at a career.

Seeing as Adelaide were the only other club that chased him. We may have just been frank and said that Jacobs>Bellchambers in terms of durability and performance. Who are you more likely to push past as the number 1 ruckman

Really rate Giles.. thought he was unlucky when Mumford came in and took that top spot away from him.

Has absolutely lessened the blow of losing Ryder for mine.. Now have two very capable AFL ready ruckmen around 25-26 age group.. ready to shine.

2015 here we come!!

This has come full circle.

I remember when he was training with us a few years ago, the club were really impressed and we were likely to draft him.

GWS swooped and we missed out, as he showed plenty for the first two years (before Mumford came along).

I'm genuinely excited to get him back. He's a realiable ruckman to have as reserve, and he's a bloody monster.

2 years in a row we seem to have made pretty amicable deals with GWS. Hopefully that serves us well going forward.

Indeed, hopefully they find it completely reasonable when we ultimately demand that they hand over Cameron for a 5th round pick.

Did you see Bellechambers play this year? Pretty sure he's backing himself in and I don't blame him. He was always going to be just a backup to Mumford at GWS compared to having a better than 50/50 shot at being no 1 ruck. If TBC can get back to his best form it means we have two competent rucks to choose from so all good.
