You don't average 25 touches if you have no endurance. Without seeing a break down I'd bet he's not getting 20 in the first half and 5 in the second. Though one D Martin was a bit like that for a few years at AFL level and he's turned out alright.

Plus I'd say most of the kids who test really well for the beep test and stuff don't get anywhere that many touches. Rioli didn't get near that and he tested elite.

The main thing is being able to find the footy. Sam Mitchell always had an awful beep test. But he knows where and how to run. And the beep test and 3km aren't always a great indicator of gut running either (which is far more important). I remember Selwood saying the GAJ never did overly well at those thing but had the ability to run all day and keep pushing himself during a game.

So my point is, if Graham is averaging 25 touches a game I'm not too worried about his running ability.

just hack the rfc site and remove him then send him an email telling him to go back to the bush, the club wont even notice

Good call re his running ability. There's an article on our website in which his state coach compares him to Luke Hodge (happy if he's half as good) but says he spreads a lot better, I've also read other critiques that mention his hard running.

He looks my like a combination of Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge rather than Luke Hodge to me.

I think he could be a winner this guy!!:thumbsu:

these comparisons are ridiculous. Both those blokes are all time greats. Graham is a good leader, and was a bargain at pick 53. Lets just leave it at that for now. It is all ahead of him, hopefully he is good enough to make it because most clubs clearly didn't rate him too high. Hopefully for us and for him, they were wrong.

Further more Hurn and hodge are elite kicks.

I'm not comfortable with that comparison

Let's see how he matches up against our other midfielders during the preseason intra clubs before putting him straight into the midfield. I'm excited about this guy but I'm not sure is he is a better ball winner than Miles, Cotchin, Dusty, Presta and Caddy quite yet. He may have just bullied the U18 midfielders he contested against because of his size....but I think he's actually better than that.

Will be great depth if nothing else

Assuming graham does 'come good' early on, it allows chimp and or dusty to play forward line. That in it's self could make his selection invaluable.

Generally we struggle to get the ball forward when we play our best players forward. Of course caddy as Prestia help too

I love this time of year. Whilst I'm missing the footy, I love the comments and vibe. We pick a young kid, everyone goes "who?" then 24 hours and 200 posts later we've all convinced ourselves we've uncovered the next GAJ. Opposition posters are popping in saying "I played juniors with him, his really solid", "great pick up guys I wish we'd got him", good luck to you guys etc etc etc.
12 weeks from now it'll be all "piss off back to your own board troll" :) :) :) :D
