Let's say we have Rocca and Cloke up and Running, Who will be the 3rd Tall.

I say for me it's a Toss Up Between Dawes/Anthony,

Dawes has shown that he can be a Descent CHF because his abilty to keep the ball Infront of him and Excelent Ground Skills,Endurance and a Great Field Kick. Just not the best Mark in the World Yet. Anthony basically because he is the best kick for goal since McKenna

Personally, I like the combination of Cloke, Anthony, and Medhurst, with Reid on the bench. With Reid looking capable of playing down back, we've also got the option of playing Nate Brown forward if we want a bigger body. And when we play sides with smaller forward lines, we'll be able to swing Brown forward irrespective of whether Reid is on the bench.

It's far from certain that Rocca is still part of our best 22 IMO.

Are you serious?

One has played 12 games with a 2.1 goal average.

The other has played 6 games with a 0.8 goal average.

Anthony is coming off a 7 goal haul in the NAB cup.

Dawes was so poor he got dropped.

Anthony even averages the same ammount of touches per game.

Jack by an absolute mile at the moment.

really right now its a toss up between reid and dawes

leigh brown never actually played a full game up forward in the NAB yet, and the resting ruckman was always a fourth tall/pinch hitter

With everyone fit though its trav, rocca and the one of anthony/rus/dawes/reid. leigh brown and our rucks shouldnt come into calculations here dave

Edit also nathan brown is a full back, he is the guy to replace presti. Once again nathan brown is a full back/CHB ie back half

I went to vote Rus but there was no Rus option.

Knew I Forgot someone you can just put Rusling in a Post then down the bottom

I'd go for Anthony but you could have included Rus and Macaffer Dave.

Brown (both varieties)??!!
I did miss a Few and I can't edit the Poll:mad:

Yeah Both Brown can play the 3rd Tall even N Brown did a good job up Forward when he was up there a few times last season and in the NAB Cup

i too forgot brent, as a third tall he is ahead of browns both and our two second ruckmen

2 qtrs first calton match
1.5 qtrs versus melbourne QB
.5 a qtr versus richmond nab cup

so thats exactly 4 qtrs in his career, to me that means he pinch hits and normally plays back, you know because he is a backmen

You rest the ruckmen in the forward line.

Reid can swing both ways, as can Nathan Brown.

If the opposong defence is on the tall side, you got Medhurst, Thomas, Davis, Didak etc to play as the third forward.

Horses for courses.

Reid can't swing anywhere, he's not a natural footballer, just put him out for the year let him bulk up and improve as a defender I say. Brown should be kept in defence, though I actually think he has the body to play back up ruck and is certainly athletic enough, it's something worth considering. In fact I'm quite baffled as to how we have so many talls and none of them are experimented with in the ruck considering our issues in that area.

I would try John McCarthy up forward, unlike Reid, he IS a natural footyballer. He's a good kick and quick on the lead, is listed as 1cm shorter than Sean Rusling and has played forward in his junior days. Could become a Steve Johnson type medium/tall forward.

Brent Macaffer? He hasn't even played a senior AFL game yet. I will reserve judgment until I see him play at least a handful of senior games in the AFL.

That was my response to Fraser25 wanting McCarthy in the forward line.
Macaffer definitely has the skills and would be more damaging up forward than J mac. He showed plenty in the NAB cup IMO.

Why Rusling?

He has been useless unless used as the main target up forward.

Put him as the thrid tall and he is half as effective.

Macaffer !!! :)
But Anthony would be number 3

Anthony is number three. Reid is better than some give him credit for, but at the moment it is promises without the payoff. McCaffer is ripe for a guernsey, he's built like a brick porta potty and he was being considered before Anthony burst onto the scene.

Anthony needs to spend some time alone in a dark room with some Medhurst, Didak and Lockyer money shots to see how the pros do it, then practice, practice and eh ... practice to develop his ground game.

Can anyone remember Jack slotting a loose ball under pressure in the AFL or VFL? If he could add this to his repertoire he could be a serious threat regardless of his opponent.

That half volley pick up on the run and snapping it with the right foot from 40 out. Drilled it! Cant remember who it was against.
