Why is Hamish named as an emergency? Is it just reward for VFL form or does Clarko actually hate Goldy & it’s going to be a tactical late out?
He’s surely not going to be the sub…

There's a financial penalty for bringing in an unlisted emergency.

Given we only have 1 other fit ruck on the list, I'm sure it is just insurance if something happened to Goldy in the next 2 days.

Meanwhile Free, who joined from the WAFL as a mature-ager late last year, is set for a stint on the sidelines after a shoulder injury in the VFL loss to Casey on the weekend. The Kangaroos have thus far opted against sending Free in for season-ending surgery however that remains an option. Free has been an AFL emergency already and is averaging 23 hit-outs and almost 13 disposals in the VFL this year, but is yet to make his AFL debut.

I’d give him a 12 month contract tomorrow and send him in for shoulder surgery. He has done more than enough this year to suggest that he is at a minimum a solid depth option.

Then take another pick into the MSD.

Season over.

After dislocating his shoulder in the VFL earlier this year, rookie-drafted ruck Hamish Free is set to go under the knife, ruling him out of the rest of the campaign.

"His follow-up assessment with imaging and the specialist has shown insufficient healing of that shoulder injury that would enable high long-term function," White said.

"He will undergo shoulder surgery in the coming week officially ending his playing prospects for the remainder of the 2023 season."

That's a shame. Missed opportunity to get another shot at the MSD

Still strikes me as odd that he wasn't put on the LTI, such a wasted opportunity.

Still such an odd pick. We had three ruckman that could play AFL games already and Free has no elite attributes while lacks the basic disposal skills for top level football.

You’d find a better ruckman in every league in Australia
Only skill is that he contests like a rabid dog
