October 2024 was that post. Things have obviously changed a bit with Caleb since then. Don't know why you would repost it today if not just to make it look current when it is almost 9 months old.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but if we had any negotiating skills and told the dogs to jam it when they insisted on pick 25 for him, we could have used that pick on Whitlock & kept this years pick 2??

Our original pick 25 (which was traded for Daniel) ended up being pick 29 (2 picks after we got Whitlock). Considering Richmond would’ve had 2 x picks before ours I’d say they would’ve taken Whitlock, but then again they had about 7 other oppurtunities to take him but didn’t.

Needs a spell in the 2’s - they way that Holmes stood him up snd then glided past him was jarring.

I heard Holmes found him a tough bugger to get past. The witches hats down at Kadina park get blown away in the wind. And are smaller than Caleb… just.

I saw a new favourite Caleb moment on the weekend. The ball was in dispute on the cats forward pocket 50 out from goal. When the inevitable shot on goal came, in the goal square was a NM key defender and his opponent, and little Caleb… not minding anybody.

I swear it looked liked he was positioning himself for a potential kick in.

I hope the media don’t highlight this atrocious trade during the week as the spotlight is put on us. Less chance of him getting dropped because I think this footy department is stupid enough to double down on it.

Clarko flipped him out of the backline in the 3rd quarter iirc didn't he? He'd know. CD has had most of a season of quite nearly unaccountable football, that is quite often horrible. We have better ball users, better players for whatever spot he plays. Not the way forward this bloke.

The Geelong plants in the media basically forced the trade. Brady Rawlings saved our off season.

Edit: In saying that, I think everyone was hoping CD would excel at North, sad to see how it’s turned out. He did play midfield at the Dogs so it makes sense why Clarko was trying him in there.

If he was brought to North as the so-called back half distributor then I think it’s time to entrust someone else with the responsibility(FOS Hardeman Sheezel) and develop them in the role rather than investing any more time into Daniel. The game has well and truly passed him by.

He did play midfield at the Dogs so it makes sense why Clarko was trying him in there.

Luckily he was surrounded by the greatest player to ever pull on a Dogs jumper, a top 3 contested footballer in the modern era who doesn't know to spell "backwards step" let alone take one, and a bunch of experienced outside runners who knew each others running patterns like they knew their own dicks.

If he plays midfield here he's fighting for space at the Window Licking Factory.

I’m sniffing the old pulled up sore, or hammy awareness outage this weekend to cover Clarko/Rawling’s arses and ego. That might reduce the noise of the drums for a week or 2. But looking at the old Excel File with all players contracts and having 2028 against Daniel leaves a nasty feeling in the guts.

If the narrative was he got to the end of 2027 and his body and mind were no longer up to it, then you could argue it was a good deal not to see out the final year. But the reality atm is this guy is the ultimate definition of an expensive list clogger, and games should be made for younger players with upside.

If it makes you feel better, it doesn’t matter how much we are paying. We would struggle to reach minimum payments even front ending deals after so long down the bottom.
