A new found belief

Funnily enough, on Friday night I always had the belief that Geelong would come back and win...

Isnt it fantastic to have that belief in your team taht no matter what happens they can manage to find a way to win...

I think the players have that too which is a good thing...

Im not trying to sound cocky here but its great that we can have such faith in our players

I didn't.

Despite some great play, I thought we were going to lose. I'm glad we did, but I thought Fremantle were unlucky not to win. At half time I thought Freo wouldn't be able to keep up the pressure, but they did.

This is what WCE did to Geelong and other sides in 2006 - come from behind to snatch victory. It is a sign of an accomplished side brimming with self belief.

I'll confess, I didn't! It was an amazing effort to get back in the game - just how good is Selwood? How many players of his age and experiencxe can turn a game by themselves?
Obviously if Pavlich didn't hit the post it might have a diferent story. But great teams make their own luck, and bring home wins the lesser teams can't. A few years ago we would have lost this game for sure. I've got to learn that this is the new Geelong and keep the faith!!

i knew we wernt down and out at 3/4 time and was telling this to the overconfident dockers fans when outside for a smoke at the last break

you could see the dockers were playing the game of their lives and were quite frankly, just playing desperate footy. i knew the dockers couldnt keep it up, and knew we would capitalise when we needed to.

I was confident after the first quarter. but admittedly going in the last quarter after Dockers pulled away again I was a bit... wary. Our boys had played pretty terrible for most of the night, and when we won I was happy but at the same time felt truly bad for the Dockers. Hopefully that loss spurrs them on to play some decent fotball after (similiar to what happened with us and WCE in 06.)

I thought we were gone to be honest especially when we didn't back up our comeback at the end of the 2nd quarter in the 3rd. Pav should have kicked that goal and not posted it for a point but there are no should haves in footy. We won and we will take it.

I kept reminding myself that freo are pathetic and that we can kick 5 goals in a matter of minutes and luckily enough, it panned out that way!

Freo have the ability to win big games though - didn't they beat the Eagles twice in 2006?

I wouldn't say that they're pathetic, but they sure as shit remind me of Geelong pre-2007.
