I'm a little confused. How can it be a setup if he promised the money in writing and then didn't deliver? Both of those things are of his own making. It's no use complaining if the media then report it.

It amuses me that whenever this issue is raised you bring up the spectre of 'inside knowledge' with conspiracies and 'I'll have to tell you all one day'. You did the same with merger and I've never seen you post anything more when someone asks.

As for Mr Flower, he's saying he doesn't want to be with Joe. So why would Joe have him on his ticket? I can understand the political reasons for Joe doing it but is getting a favourite son off-side the way to go? He's been telling Joe he didn't want to be on his ticket from the beginning.

Also, I think you need to realise Flower is an adult. He's able to make up his own mind. He's made his decision and people should respect it. Using the Labor Party tactic of claiming he's been brainwashed because he's so naive is an insult to his intelligence.

That article pretty much sums up my thoughts. At the time we probably needed someone like Joe, but times change and he should move on.

I am not so much upset about him not paying the final 300,000. It is more the $100,000 for the corporate box. He has to pay that. He hired out that box by his own choice so he should pay up.

Just trust Joe......he just wants the club to change its image to a family type club for supporters, not the Collins St. brigade.
I can't believe people are such hypocrites, they grabbed his money when we were in dire straights...and now they stab him in the back, because he style is a little different and stands up for the club against the afl.....some of you guys just amaze me.

As for the remainder of the money he promised, the club will get it if he is elected and probably even if he isnot elected......but personally I don;t want him to give it to the club..
What's Zombie done for the club in the last 5 or 6 months...all he's done is slag off at Joe!

I feel sorry for Robbie Flower...his so called friend Bill Guest has spun some tales about Joe to him....and the poor guy is so confused...remember Robbie said initially he would work with Joe if the supporters cherry picked, then overnight, listenining to the propoganda against Joe by 3aw and Gerard Healy, who demanded Robbie be hard against Joe, suddenly overnight Robbie made different comments to his original ones.'

I can see what has happened at that Football club and I don;t like it one bit.

How can you trust Joe after his latest ploy?It looks like it has backfired so he got what he deserved.
So what if the article was a set up. They are the facts. HE HAS NOT PAID UP.

Robert Flower has alligned himself with the Szondy ticket. Sohow do you expect him to react. Especially whne he was told only half an hour before a press conference. THAT WAS A DISGRACE.

I have answered all your questions on numerous occassions, just go back thru the posts some months ago.....I am sorry but there's too much to type again...

Don't forget Robbie is an independent (whether he likes it or not) and all supporters can pick whoever they want from both tickets...I for one might cherry pick too...I haven't decided yet whether to include Robbie on my vote yet because I was disappointed with his attitude of stepping aside if he was elected by MEMBERS AND would be part of the Board.

Its obvious from this he has been used as a "stooge" by the present board to gain votes for the Szondy ticket and get "rid" of Joe.

Robbie is Bill Guests best friend and obviously has been told "untruths" about Joe...so has decided "AFTER ALL THIS TIME" to put himself up for election....he was asked after the merger to serve on the board ....where has he been all this time???.

And besides, Robbie has had very little contact with Joe...only on a few occassions....how can he say, he can't work with him?? The whole thing is just crazy....I definately feel sorry for Robbie...he's been used and been told mis-truths by Guest .

Why don't you guys come along to the Melbourne First Forums and ask these questions yourselves....I am sure Joe his ticket and other supporters will be more than happy to answer your questions.....then you will see/hear for yourselves whats been happening at that football club.!! You will get your answers there...not through reports by Trevor Grant...which was a set up job, as were the other articles. Stop reading the newspapers and do some private investigations.!!

Joe will pay for his corporate box when the time is right...but there are issues on that matter still to be sorted out.. (ask Szondy about this one!!).....as with the remainder of the money he pledged to the club.

As for nominating Robbie on his ticket, all that was a misinterpretation........members will get a letter from Joe explaining the vacant position left on Joe's ticket.

Imagine how hard it will be for the supporters not to pick Robbie ... its obvious to me that not all supporters want to vote for all of Szondy's ticket...but some may want Robbie on it....

Robbie knew this was going to happen alll along, because he initially said himself that if he had to work with Joe, he would.

Why did he change his mind the next day after he spoke on 3aw with Dr. Turf and Healy and Hookes (where they just about told him to be more firm) and then the next day, Robbie comes out and says he will resign if he had to work with Joe.......he barely knows Joe!!!

A stooge? Get rid of Joe? Nice emotive language but not much factual content. Of course Flower is on their ticket to gain votes, that's the point of having a ticket. As for getting rid of Joe, obviously they don't want him as president that is why Szondy, Flower et al are standing against him.

This harks back to my point about insulting Flower's intelligence. Maybe he isn't running against Joe because he's been brainwashed or because he's 'obviously been told untruths' but rather because he believes it is the right thing to do.

Feeling sorry for him is being nothing but patronising. Why not respect his decision?

I'm not a Melbourne member so I don't have a vote. I'm just here because I'm interested to hear the reasoning on both sides. As for the "set up" by Trevor Grant, Joe gave his word in writing and has gone back on it. Whether or not he intends to pay in the future, he has not lived up to his word so far. Surely integrity plays a key part in any election and I would think this could be seen as damaging to his. No amount of conspiracy theories can change the fact he promised (in writing) the money by October 31st and hasn't delivered.
