Havent seen a thread about the ABC radio coverage.

Its THE way to lazily enjoy a summers cricket imo. The skull and harsha have been a great combo this year! :thumbsu: :D

It's been awesome.

Skull's Skippy routine while Harsha tried to keep the commentary going today was hilarious. But unlike other personality commentators/commentary I never feel it gets in the way of the game. O'Keefe is quite insightful too.

"Why don't you bowl your adam's apple ya pussy?!"

I think it's just a given that most people appreciate ABC's incisive, unbiased and always entertaining commentary.

Yep good thread. The voice of Jim Maxwell always seems to relax me for some reason. A great commentary team.:thumbsu:

So good. I listened to the coverage at work yesterday and was bent over laughing whenever Skull was on. I got home in time for the last half hour of play and was greeted by Slats discussing the clothing of another member of the commentary. Such a contrast.

It doesn't work outside Australia, I hate the Ch9 and star cricket commentaries.

Didn't think I'd say this, but it's lost something without Roebuck. Also, no Glen Mitchell is really hurting the broadcast as well.

Drew Morphett and Brian Waddle just aren't up to par.

Absolutely agree (although I think Waddle is okay). There's no doubt that the departures of Glen Mitchell and Peter Roebuck have brought ABC commentary back a bit, though it's still far superior to the dross Channel 9 serves up.

IMO, it's interesting that ABC has engaged a number of ex-bowlers as expert commentators - Damien Fleming in Melbourne, Geoff Lawson in Melbourne and Sydney, Danny Morrison in the NZ tests and in Sydney, Kerry O'Keefe around the country - but no ex-batsmen as expert commentators. They seem to be the domain of Channel 9!

O'Keefe's laugh alone makes it worth listening, his cackle is hilarious! But yes as usual ABC's sports coverage is heads and shoulders above the drab biased rubbish that comes from the blockheads at channel 9.

One thing I find is that I don't always laugh at his actual jokes but find myself laughing uncontrollably at his cackle. He and Glenn Mitchell made such an awesome pairing, it's a pity we'll never hear those 2 commentating Test Cricket again.

Absolutely. Drew is a good footy commentator, but just doesn't quite have the knowledge of a Roebuck or Mitchell.

Drew's been around a while, too. I was watching the 1989 semi-final between Hawthorn and Essendon the other day, and Drew Morphett was one of the commentators (together with Peter McKenna and Bernie Quinlan providing special comments).

I don't agree. He claimed this morning that is would take a 'huge brain fade' (sic) for Clarke not to make 350. Like making another ton is childs play.

Brilliant. It gets turned off though when Lawson comes on.

Yeah he can be a little bit of a let down in an otherwise awesome team. The "pussy" comment made my eyebrows raise yesterday. O'Keefe and Harsha and just brillant together. That was very entertaining yesterday. Harsha is far and away my favourite.

I see your point, but it depends on how you take it. By that comment he meant by yesterday's batting effort.
