Hello Demons supporters,

C42yaDoor a blues supporter who has been spot on with our trade info int he past (apparently has a Richmond contact) has said that we are apparently talking to this kid of yours. He has picked a few trades of ours before such as Mitch Farmer before anyone really knew so his source sounds legit.

It seems he has signed up until the end of 2011 though?

Just wondering what Demons supporters thoughts of this rumour are and whether or not you would want to give him up. He seemed to be a pretty good junior....would you want to give him up?

I wouldn't want to trade him at this point, given that he is still young and is finally starting to show something at VFL level. His consistency in the VFL has also been impressive this year.

Further, I don't really think it's the right time to trade him either, as he hasn't really had the opportunity to achieve anything significant at senior level yet. In that sense, I suspect Richmond wouldn't want to give up too much for him, but Melbourne would want a pretty good pick/player in return due to his potential.

I honestly just don't see why he would be a part of trade discussions at this point in his career, unless he isn't happy at the club or Richmond is really keen to get him for whatever reason.

He won't make it. If you guys gave us a draft pick in the 30s I would jump all over it in a second.

You gotta take rumours like this with a grain of salt, but assuming it's right, it might not be the worst idea.

Maric's playing very reasonable footy in the VFL but can't get a look-in for the senior side, mainly because we've got so many decent small/medium forward options (Bennell, Green, Sylvia, Jetta, Wona, Petterd before he was injured, etc).

He's a highly rated junior, who still has time to prove himself, but i can imagine he could be getting frustrated at VFL level.

IF he wanted a trade, or the Dees were keen to trade him, then it could be a win-win if we got a suitable player/draft pick for him.

Personally, I'd like to give him another year on our list to see if he can develop further.

Yeah no idea like I said the Carlton guy is generally pretty reliable and has a contact inside the Tiger camp.

Apparently he was a huge Tigers man pre draft. Not sure what the circumstances are but I agree with what you are saying in that we wouldn't be willing to give what you paid for him. Considering he is contracting I find it funny, unless he hates MFC.

Correct me if I’m wrong but players can not be approached by other clubs during the season, only during trade week. Naturally this doesn’t apply to GC.

I was literally just thinking about the possiblity of getting Hampson/Warnock from Melbourne, and since we have given them C Johnson and McLean in the last two years, I wondered 'which spud can we give them this year?'

Cue this thread.

Not saying Maric is a spud by any measure, but if we could get Hampson for, say, Maric and our 3rd round pick, I'd be more than happy to rip of the Cheaters for the third year in a row.

This. Maric has serious potential, but is a depth option at this stage given our wealth of small forwards.

Yeah pretty sure that is the case but list managers talking to the players manager and not the player directly. Pretty sure that is how it works.

There is no way the AFL could track it anyway to be honest.

My mail is that he has had offers from Collingwood and West Coast, not sure why Collingwood with the amount of mid/forwards they have. I also heard from the same source that he is out on the piss everyweekend after Casey play and isnt committed to his footy.

I heard (3rd hand so may be a rumor) that he was very keen to go to Richmond when the draft was on and apparently told Melbourne he'd most likely go before their pick so he could get to Richmond without Melbourne considering him.

I'd be happy to trade him for anything TBH, I think he could be a decent AFL player but we've got plenty in his position that I rate higher than him.

I'd trade him if he doesn't want to be part of our future. Just like what Beamer said at the B&F last year.

I did like what I saw of him at AFL level last year and in his first year, but his lack of progression so far this year has been worrying. If he can't manage to consistently find the ball and use it well, including kicking goals at VFL level then he either doesn't want to do it for the MFC or isn't good enough.

send him to wce, plus any amount of first round picks we can get (+ watts) and throw a **** load of $$$ at josh kennedy..

but seriously watts aside.. we need to get him

I agree Dutchy, have seen him a few times for Casey and sure he played a couple for the seniors last year or 2008. IMO an average VFL player.
Too small and if you are small you have to be very good to make it at AFL level.
He is not very good!

Seems to have stalled and imo it must be an attitude problem. In the game in 08 when we played Geelong and got slaughtered he was the only positive, it was pretty bad conditions but his skills and poise stood out and I thought we had gotten ourselves a bargain. Since then he's really not done much but I'd like to see him be given an opportunity for 4-5 games in a row in the 1's before the end of the season to really get a read on where he is at

What's this too small business? He's a forward flank/pocket, he's not supposed to be a giant. Size-wise he is fine and he's got the skills to back it up, the question over him is his work ethic and ego if he can't sort those out then it will be curtains for him.

Don't write him off just yet.

Throw in Tapscott as a future forward option as well.

It would be a shame if Maric didn't end up converting his potential to senior performance at MFC and you'd think another year would be handy to definitively know.

Having said that multiple factors could come together to tip the club over in a decision here. He is contracted so we have bargaining power, especially if more than 1 club are after him. He is by no means a required player on current performance and if we did trade him for a pick we would have more list flexibility come draft time. Also there is the "behind closed doors" factor that we don't know about, he may not be happy at the club or it could all be bs - who knows?

Wouldn't be against the idea of trading him tbh..

I can't really see a spot for him in our side long term, hopefully he shows something this year and gets a seniors run.

I can't wait for Tapscott to come in :D

He's been starting to show a bit, but is still inconsistent & needs more opportunity. We have recruited so many youngsters that some will struggle for opportunity. He is behind Jetta, Bennell, Scully, etc & others on the way.
He's been slow to develop but does show something here & there.

I'd accept a draft pick around 27 - 30.

apparently judd and buckley were huge dees fans, and scott pendlebury, doesnt mean they played for melbourne.
