Didn't West Coast play him out of position at AFL level on the wing? Seemed a bit odd for a 195cm guy. Surely a club down on forward stocks should look at him like Collingwood

Seems odd to delist him when Kennedy, Darling and McGovern are nearly old enough to get a gig with Geelong.

Does no news on the Davis and ROC front suggest they may get resigned?
Would rather both be delisted.. but if we are gonna keep 1 I would rather it be davis..

ROC is a bust (given how deep into the draft he was taken not a bad “bust”).. he’s so far back in the midfield pecking order and will go even further back with our new draftees that it seems pointless to keep him… would rather see him off, free up the list spot and fill it with a small forward… we need greater depth there.

Whilst Davis out the door wouldnt see me lose any sleep.. aparently he has a great rapport around the club.. is really well liked and respected. Plus he actually looked alright coming out of defense this year..
so he’s a bit of a “utility” type that can play all over the place.. so, with all this in mind, I also wouldnt care if he stays..

edit: if davis is delisted.. would love to see him given a role at the club as the “Shaun Burgoyne at port” indigenous liason officer role for the crows..

You'd keep a guy that's been on our list for 6 years, played 6 AFL games and tends to be injury prone but because he seems a top lad he gets another year?

Whilst Ryan O'Connor's had 2 years on our list, his 1st year where he was unable to play any football development wise due to Covid's intervention, showed enough in the SANFL this season to get a couple of AFL games in what was basically his 1st real season of footy with us.

If it comes down to a choice out of the 2 O'Connor is by far the most deserving of another year to see what he's got factoring in age and potential improvement/upside.

I might add Ryan O'Connor looked better than alright when coming out of defence at the U18 Championships and for Claremont colts when played there..

Edit : And let's not forget O'Connor is a sub 3.00 sec runner.

Anyone with a news Corp sub want to give us summary of what Bucky says about our list?
ADELAIDE
“Crows supporters should be excited by the future but a potential top-eight tilt will be two to three years away as yet.

“But enjoy the ride as I think they are on the right track now after the turbulent time under Don Pyke and some poor football and board decisions.”

DEVELOPMENT
Future AB players: Chayce Jones, Fischer McAsey, Riley Thilthorpe, Josh Worrell, Ned McHenry, Harry Schoenberg, Darcy Fogarty, Lachlan Sholl, Jordan Butts.

Need more time: Jackson Hately, Luke Pedlar, Brayden Cook, William Hamill, Sam Berry, Nick Murray, James Rowe, James Borlase, Andrew McPherson, Ronin O’Connor, Tariek Newchurch, Lachlan Gollant, Patrick Parnell.

THE RATINGS

A-grade:
Rory Sloane, Rory Laird, Tom Doedee.

B-grade: Ben Keays, Matt Crouch, Jake Kelly, Daniel Talia (delisted), Taylor Walker, Brodie Smith, Elliott Himmelberg, Reilly O’Brien.

C-grade: Lachlan Murphy, Paul Seedsman, David Mackay, Luke Brown, Tyson Stengle (delisted), Mitch Hinge, Billy Frampton, Shane McAdam, Tom Lynch (delisted), Wayne Milera, Ben Davis, Kieran Strachan.

UNDER THE PUMP
Most of the C-graders, aside from Paul Seedsman, Wayne Milera and Lachlan Murphy, will come under scrutiny to make may for list changes.

I would be loath to delist any of the development-ranked players unless there was reason to do so because they need to balance the list out a bit with so many of them.

No… if you re-read my post you’ll see I actually want both delisted.. but if the club kept one of them i’d rather it be Davis.

Well IMO that's not being fair to O'Connor given he's really only had 1 year to stake his claims for a further year.

And my interpration of his draft position is different from yours when he was a 2nd round pick, albeit a late 2nd round pick.

Do enjoy the grading of players no longer on our list.

Yeah, it reads like it was written 12 months ago.

Sloane A grade but Seedsman C grade? Lol.

Except Seed isn't a C grade.
Yeh sorry I was just talking about the initial comment -

I didn't see the rest until after.

The player ratings are...interesting.

Seedsman a C, yet Kelly and Himmelberg are B grade?? Bizarre. Seedsman would have been in the top 3-4 wingman in the comp this year.

That's fine, but IMO ROC is just wasting a spot on the list. If we need a big bodied inside defensive mid, go get a mature aged player who can really help in the SANFL, or a Tom Lewis type. ROC just doesn't do enough, and didn't every get much of the ball in the lower leagues either.

Might help if like Tom Lewis Ryan and our other young developing players weren't forced to play most weeks with a bunch of top ups that are barely SANFL reserves standard too.

... and he still thinks Mackay is on our list. He's noted the delistings of Stengle/Talia/Lynch, and failed to note the retirement of DMac.

That entire ratings smacks of someone who hasn't watched Adelaide play all year, and has paid only minimal attention to our post-season changes.

Paul Seedsman C grade? Lol

Just on Davis and ROC - I wouldn't be surprised if the club is being a bit cautious about delistings this year, given the apparent shallowness of this year's draft vs the expected greater depth / exposed form next year.

We've got picks 4/33/75 which along with all the other machinations (rookie promotions etc) says to me that even if we split 4, we're really only looking at maybe 3 picks in the draft, do we need to make room on the senior list for more?

I think we're looking more to the 2022 draft with more list changes then. That buys Davis and ROC another year. Sure, we (BF) might have opinions about the future of those players, but how much does it cost to put off those decisions vs any benefit this year?
