I missed that, but no reason why it wouldn't be correct - he would have been a kid, 6 or 7 around then.

Im almost certain he said it, I guess with commentators when they talk about grand finals and about being in one its as a player hence you are around 20 years of age.

So when Bruce mentioned it was 54 years ago lol, I think they all thought hang on that would make you around 74 years old.

I cant see him stopping from commentating simply because he has class and is the most respected one out there.

Cant believe he had humble beginnings on the AM stations in Adelaide.

Lots of lols at the meltdown over on the PAP board. They have taken this game pretty badly. Complaints about us stealing.their ideas at AO, about we are on the front page of the tiser, about how Tex isnt a superstar and doesnt deserve the interest and talk he has been getting on his return, about how Danger wasnt that good. But they are truely fapping out about Bruces silly comment about how the game was one of the biggest sporting achievements in SA history. Hey PAPers, the biggest sporting highlight in SA footy was the 2007 AFL Grand Final Result. You flogs made a record that day which may never be beaten. lol
Ha ha - love it.

The problem for the PAPS is that they have had a steady diet this season of Gerard "card carrying PAP member" Whately fawning over them on 360.

Of course Bruce barracks for the Crows, always has - so suck it up princesses, we have to listen to Dwayne Russell fapping on about Port as well.

Good on you Bruce!!!

Haven't read the whole thread so i guess it might already have been mentioned but to me the highlight of Taylor Walkers return was his willingness to stand up for himself & his team mates & not take a backward step,

Loved him getting right in the face of the Collingwood player who gave Charlie a bit of a late bump after a mark. Made sure it was known that we wouldn't be taking that sort of crap.

I can remember him as the sports anchor on the channel 7 six oclock news back in the late 70's/early 80's as well

I took the time to read through the Collingwood game thread. That was an eye opener. Here's a summary of what I read

- Collingwood to win by 20-60 points - that's to be expected, no problems there
- Port Adelaide supporters encouraging Collingwood to smash us plus they were taking pot shots at us - interesting they would go to the trouble
- Our club and supporters are all inbred - that was strange, I didn't realize I was considered an inbred, especially coming from Pies supporters.
- Dangerfield is overrated - Well I think there was only the one comment, but it conjured an eyebrow raise on my part. I wonder if he still thinks Dangerfiled is overrated after last night.
- There were some saying they didn't like playing us, yes they get the result, but it's always a fight to do so - there's some honest analysis
- They posted a video of some of our fans over the top reaction after we lost that semi final after the siren, they were getting quit a bit of amusement out of that one - oh well, I expected that sort of stuff
- The umpires were SA cheats - that was funny considering the umpires all come from VIC.
- They hated the commentary - I can understand that, I've noticed bias commentary before against the Crows and it pissed me off
- They started out saying the Crows were lucky, but eventually were saying they were playing better and wanted it more - no complaints here
- At times they hated the crowd's reactions - I don't think they experience a one sided crowd against them hardly ever, they usually have good support in the crowd no matter what stadium they play at.
- There were certain players on their team they were moaning about - no surprise there

Over all it was an interesting experience going through the start to the end and reading what the tone was like as if it was in real time. It started out friendly enough and then kind of degenerated into mockery and pot shots at our team and supporters. Most were confident they were going to win easily although some refused to take the game lightly. Everything seemed to be going to plan as of quarter time, but afterwards that's when the tread began to unravel. They started blaming the umpires and hating the crowd. Then they started to bemoan their own teams performance, this went on for a while as well as their hate of the commentary. As the game got into the later stages they started recognizing the Crows had come to play. Although they did blame the umpires they still recognized Adelaide was the better team on the night. Overall they were not happy with what they had just seen and rightly so.

This must be common for a lot of teams and their fans because I constantly hear criticisms of the Crows fans because we boo every non-awarded decision (call us clueless) and cheer every free kick and shot on goal miss. There were GWS fans calling us "classless" because we boo'd Jeremy Cameron when he was lining up for goal while up by 50 points. What are we supposed to do? Just sit in silence because we're winning? Don't get it at all.

They're the opposition supporters, naturally they're going to see things from a biased perspective, but I'd rather them hate playing us because of our home crowd then not say anything. That means we're doing it right!

Eddie is still whinging. :rolleyes::cry:
He's just sore because they lost and it's easier to pin it on "siren-gate" (hate that BTW) than man up and admit, like Buckley did, that they were soundly beaten in the 2nd half regardless of the Jenkins goal. Not paying much attention to him to be honest.

The self righteous delusion on that board truly is something to behold.

Funny thing is, you could change every time you said collingwood in that post, change it to Adelaide, and it resembles one of our match threads when we lose.

I don't think you can take much from an opposition teams match thread.

If anyone thinks that their own teams don't do the exact same thing they're either a liar or ignorant.

I go to all the Melbourne games we play and every team we play has a crowd that does the exact same thing.

As far as GWS fans are concerned, perhaps they should concentrate on having a crowd before criticizing others.

You're probably right, but I was being slightly gentle with the subject for the benefit of any Collingwood supporter that might stumble across it. There were a lot of perspectives that were quite over the top. I can guarantee we are not as insulting in our match day threads before the game starts, unless we're playing Port, of course.

When we're winning, and playing a team performing badly, I have no doubt we're exactly the same.

Yeah I was reading that as well. I think it was coming from the one poster over and over and over again. Highly amusing.
