Funny how everyone was hating on Microsoft in late March/early April when everyone fell for BAs bs. Hindsight shows that Microsoft were by far the smartest stakeholder in the AFL 23 market (alongside potential consumers who chose not to purchase).
Yep! Sony obviously do not review what they allow to release on their store otherwise why else would they allow a bug ridden game to be released like it was?
Pro team will be their desperate attempt to actually make a profit, until its riddled with bugs and people rage quit the game haha, can see it already.
Well considering Ross himself said that you do not need to pay for packs if you don't want to it may not be a profit earner for them.

The issues that still persist with online still gives no hope that Proteam will be released soon. It's ridiculous

I’ve maintained for a while now that pro team won’t revive this game from its dead state even if it is what’s promised.
The player base is alienated and moved on by now if they didn’t already spurn the game upon its pathetic launch state. The numbers don’t lie.

How are you going to find a game online reliably?

I got slammed for complaining about them releasing PS and Steam before Xbox but it has been a disaster, they essentially had those users being play testers and given any person with xbox plenty of time to look at it and everything I have seen and played ( which is minimal) does not make me want to buy it no matter what, even pro team can't me across the line with this game now. Such a shame I got back into playing cricket 22 this week with the ashes on and it is a solid game , has its flaws here and there like any game but overall it is very solid.

Decided to play a couple of games after few days not playing. Played 3 games in management. First two games were great and actually kept me interested as it wasn’t just a kick and catch then goal….

First game against the suns, both 7-1 was a cracker of a game back and forth until about halfway through the last and GC just shut down and I kicked 5 goals clear.

Second game against the hawks, very close game back and forth the whole game, ended up getting up by 7 points.

Third game I was up against Richmond and had scored 80 points to 12 at half time. I literally just turned it of and went and did something different as it was so boring.

How does the game chop and change with difficulty so much, I’ve been playing on hardest. When you have those close games it actually makes me want to keep playing cause its exciting.

Then it just goes back to as if I was playing on easy. Does anyone else have this happen?

It’s their momentum/rubber banding.
I actually think it works really well as it currently sits. Probably the best thing about the game imo. (That’s not saying much)

I’ve had close games full of momentum swings. I’ve had games where I’m up by 10 goals and win by around that 10-12 mark as the game is basically dead in the second half. A lot more realistic than Evo’s rubber banding. Just a shame that this is only one of a few things that AFL 23 does better

The game probably will never release on Xbox or if it does will have barely any sales, who’s gonna buy it?

So just checking...

No news on Xbox.
No news on Pro Team.
Management mode still broken.

The season is nearly over. The players are gone. Absolute disaster.

They should have just delayed AFL and made it for next year. They could have released Cricket 24 this year with pro team feature and see how that went and then incorporated it into the footy game.

They said an August release for Xbox, it's almost into the last week of July and no news around date, for a few teams August is season done and dusted and if the game releases on Xbox day mid to late August and Pro Team comes then, they literally have a 1 month window of the season/ finals remaining and bare in mind that NBA 2K releases at the start of September and the new "fifa" FC at the end of September. Both titles have a bigger presence within the gaming community here I feel and whilst I understand not everyone will be a user of both those games they do come with a lot of hype especially around the Ultimate Team and My Team features.

Big Ant did say they treat EA and 2K as competition or the standard they want to be at, do they realistically think releasing a pro team feature around the same time period as both those games is a smart move? Throw in Cricket 24 releasing early October and it is billed as having Pro Team also. Given the financial climate these days I am not so sure how many people would fork out money to get a Nathan Buckley or Richo etc on a game that is going to be hard to find online games if that's how you play compared to forking out money for what they get in the 2K and EA games / easier to get online match ups.

Jeez, I go away for a week and nothing has really changed except I'm feeling a lot better not having to think about this massive turd of a game.

At least I know the next game is gonna get scrutinized to hell and back and the next one will sell maybe a quarter of what this game sold at best.

Who knows, Maybe we'll luck out finally and get a dev team that's interested in doing an Aussie Rules game and will actually properly plan out a game and communicate with us. That would be nice for a change.

Frankly, I don't see an AFL 25 even happening from BA. I think we'll be waiting for another mob or an indie dev at this point to take over down the road.

I also doubt we're gonna see the Xbox release at this point. Just another broken promise/lie to add to the long, long list of those.

Anyway, I'm gonna go back to playing games that aren't this. It's more fun, less of a downer and less of a waste of time.

Funny/Sad thing is that I have Fifa 23 on Xbox and PS5 (PS5 was a freebie with console, got it on Xbox when it dropped to under $30 months ago). Yet I've played AFL 23 more!

I Don't play Fifa or NBA 2K to the extent I used to (60-90 hours in the first month, then 2-300 hours all up by the next iteration)

I don’t think a fluctuation of difficulty is a bad thing. More realistic that way. IRL a team won’t win by 2-3 goals every week. A team might lose by 5 goals one week, then win by 80 pts the next.

I don't mind it to a degree. I found Evolutions "difficulty" more interesting in that (as mentioned a billion times) if the home team had a sizeable lead... it wasn't easy to claw your way back as the away side.

In saying that AFL 23s difficulty tweaks have also been interesting to see in action. Like being able to score at will every 14-17 seconds... to only having 1 goal every 2-3 minutes of game time. Sometimes I still get on a 3-4 goal run per minute, but it only happens in bursts.

I did like how it was early on (aside from easiest feeling like hardest and hardest feeling like easiest lol). Where the AI was more ferocious and I only really scored during the junk time periods of quarters.... or I'd mount a 3-6 goal come back in a final quarter which meant I lost by 3-15 points instead of 30-50+

Just curious how Big Ant decided how to implement it.

Not sure why they didn't delay it, they delayed Live 2011 by 1 year. Perhaps budget issues or contractual obligations?

They admitted they can't break even, so I don't know why they blew the budget on photographers and photogrammetry. Never understood why AFL game developers do that.

To this day I'll never understand why they waste so much time mapping facial structures and all that crap when at the end of the day you see the details 5% of the time but what you do see is terrible animations, glitches, crashes, and lacklustre gameplay.

Just cut it from the budget and say you're going for a specialised artistic style.
