I think they feel more obliged to offer an HTML version with stripped down information when using JS for the full source version. The reason for this being it's basically tradition, easier to do as it comes from the same pool of info, and JS often has many issues with the end user - especially with Firewalls with low user interaction (such as the default Windows XP Firewall from SP2).
Flash, however, is considered an acceptable medium for offering information without issue to customers (I'm not agreeing, but that's the trend these days with sites incorporating Flash into web design and making sites very very heavy). I'm not a Flash fan when it comes to my personal internet experience as I tie myself to dial-up for various reasons and Flash is generally content heavy. But with Live Scoring (Sorry if I sometimes refer to it as LT/Live Timing - That's from motorsport ones), it's only the inital load that's heavy. After that, the 1 minute (should be less) interval 'update' information sent is not much for 56k.
As a result, I'd say don't expect an HTML version. However, it's still a possibility depending on the feedback...

Telstra moved away completely from a HTML version of their stats last year for NRL.com.au so I don't think they'd have any problem dropping it for AFL.com.au.
Same problem, Snuka. I assumed it was a mac problem. Glad I'm not the only one. I've sent feedback to the AFL website, I suggest you do the same. Thanks monty...but afraid i'm having troubles with that (from the Gameday Live page) aswell. Just loads up the little prod.xml thingy window with the media player on it and than says 'Ready' but doesn't play. I know it's not really an issue for this forum but wondering if anyone else has same prob.
Do you think the new stats page can be adjusted for those using 800x600 resolution?Just remember, during the NAB Cup games, the live scoring is in testing. The alphabetical thing will be fixed by round 1.
Ultimately, it gives you guys time to work out some issues with your computer settings regarding video and audio in time for the season opening.
Some things are buggy and don't work correctly, but the majority is fine.
I really don't believe an HTML version is coming, sadly.
I sent afl.com.au the definition of UTC & GMT & explained how it works for the other 99% of the world that's not currently on AEDT. The radio links are not available until the clock on your PC says it's game time. What a freaking joke!Gotta say, its looks ok but i've just realised something wacky...last night I was looking at the countdown to the games on the front page and realised they were all way off. Had a look again today and they were way off, like 2 hours behind. Realised that they are going on Tokyo time (where I'm living), ie. my computer's clock. So, the countdown clocks are not adjusted for the different timezone. Is this a common problem for websites or just a momumental ******** up? I wonder if any other internationals are getting this.
Also don't know about anyone else, but have not been able to listen online to SEN or 3AW since last week. Its a freakin nightmare for someone overseas with no other access to the games.![]()

"Let me adjust my PC clock so that I can listen to steaming audio on afl.com.au"!
I reckon a 13-year-old with her own webside could figure out not to tie time-oriented links to a single local time zone. The British railway system figured this out 175 years ago! The world had clued in by the 1920s. Telstra brought a problem that most of the world resolved during the industrial revolution into the 21st century! Amazing!!!
It appears that Telstra suffers from Cranial Rectal Adhesion! I hope they can get it unstuck soon but I am not at all confident!
Hi All,
Most of you will know the new beta site of AFL.com.au went up last Thursday and last weekend saw the first "live" event with stats and scores, etc.
My name is Sandy and I'm going to be the official correspondent for AFL.com.au on behalf of BigPond.
Unfortunately, being new to BigFooty, I cannot start a new thread specifically on the beta site of AFL.com.au until I post a few replies. So bear with me.
GameDayLive was launched "in beta" on Friday. We have received lots of great feedback about the application and are making constant tweaks to it.
There were definitely problems on the weekend. Interestingly the "technical" glitches were a consequence of our hosting company's brand new load balancers crashing and causing a domino effect across a lot of the XML drives news and scores. This happened again on Sunday.
However, there are some real usability issues as well that we are ironing out. I guess the key point of a "beta" site is ... "it's beta".
When I have permission to start a new thread, I will be putting a lot of information in there on AFL.com including Live Stats and Scores.
Cheers,
Sandy

Sounds good, all most people would like is the option of a HTML version for the stats. Also the site has way too much flash in general.
sldavey,
thanks for taking the time to respond to some comments.
LF50.....it isn't a bandwagon issue; I the other positive of HTML besides it being easier to read (IMO) is that it loads a lot faster than the flash version.....

Is their any way to access the stats from the weekend's matches. No livescores link obviously, but the stats are useless in the match reports.
Does anybody have a link for the livestats...mine was cleared.
Cheers in advance.
Do you have a link for tonights stats?
Very disappointing if they don't have an HTML stats
