Clearance kick looks a bit op. No charge up automatic 30m hack forward...Hopefully there is a lot of ways to stop it.
But in real life that's what you can actually physically do? It's just that it could be inaccurate and could result in a turnover , which will hopefully mean it's a 50 50 situation

My concern is you'll be able to do it every time with zero diminishing returns. I hope smothers and just general players getting in the way of the kick play a big part...

That in it itself makes for differing tactics like real life. Do you want to go for a helter skelter approach or try and win the clearance with a Choccie Neale bullet handball out to an elite kicking midfielder? Should be fun to test it out!
 
Very curious to see the marking video tomorrow, the few glimpses we got of it in the kicking tutorial looked the same as Evo 1 at least in terms of animations, but there’s clearly something new going on in terms of mechanics/controls
there was one new marking mechanic, a player fell to the ground and tumbled as he marked the ball. Pretty sure players didn't do that in evo 1?

If it's in a contested situation then yeah it should. Hack kicks forward are generally risky , as you don't know where it could go, doubt it'd be op

They might be more up and under type kicks and easier to get under to spoil or bring the ball to ground

What will be OP is how good they are around goals. Might be better than trying for an actual goal

Hopefully there’s a statistic that makes some players better at it then others.

I was a little disappointed they didn't include goal kicking as part of their kicking feature. I know that's such a first world thing to say but damn it I am in need of some footy!
 
I feel like they overestimate how consistently long/straight and hard to pull off torpedos actually are. I know it's a video game, but every AFL game does it.
2004 had a system where it would either go left or right and you had to guess which way.
