If it weren't for zero day patches, games would be a lot later, you'd have to factor more rounds of QA with the platform holders, which you may or may not need.

Why wouldn't they be needed

You pass with the first submisson, which means you can go straight to manufacture and will make your street date, you don't need more QA time - we've done that with 70% of our games :)

You get very nervous during submission because too many submissions means a delay of the game, apart from fans being annoyed, there are penalties from retailers, marketing campaigns that no longer align with the release etc, and you may get penalised by your licensor.

I’d love to see how many notifications Sebastian Giompaolo has from this thread.

I'm sure he'll handle them much the same as he handles every single game Tru Blue releases - poorly.
True Blue aren't successful because of how they operate, I believe they're successful as a result of their position within Australia. A shoddily run company with no real regard of what people think of the games, it's clear they want to scam people into buying copies of whatever they're selling by providing gameplay as late as possible.

It will be the same as physical, except the time is not as sensitive as you don't have the six-eight weeks for manufacture, shipping, etc.
 
IMO it's not a choice. As we head to "games as a service", every publisher needs to understand that every game is live and will require updates to keep it fresh (or at least have bugs fixed), old school thinking is to shift the boxes and move to the next title.

Patching is awesome.

The quality of gaming experience with every update to DBC14 turned a decent game on release into an absolute classic.

I’m sure the cold-hearts at Tru Blue may think it doesn’t add too many 0’s to their bottom line on first iteration game sales - but that is sooooooo short-sighted cos DBC 17 would not have sold nearly as many if 14 didn’t finish as the game that it did.

The old saying- don’t kill the golden goose - might be one to run-by old mate Sebastian...

Retaining customers is so much more important cheaper than gaining new ones

Gave up playing this pretty early , gave online a crack tonight and wow unplayable. Everytime the oppo got the ball they zoomed off couldnt get anywhere near, everytime I got the ball id be clear then all of a sudden getting tackled by an invisible player holding or throwing the ball.

Well, if I ever need help with a BigAnt title, I know where to find them.
Gave up playing this pretty early , gave online a crack tonight and wow unplayable. Everytime the oppo got the ball they zoomed off couldnt get anywhere near, everytime I got the ball id be clear then all of a sudden getting tackled by an invisible player holding or throwing the ball.

Couldn’t possibly be because, you know.. you haven’t played it, and you’re up against those who have?

Yeah I think it shows just how bad WW are when another gaming company has the decency to spend more time talking to the people on a game that isn't even there's than the actual company that made it. Says it all.

Ha! Played it enough solo, actually enjoyed it at the start.

The online was horrible I am talking where you had the ball in the clear then a player literally appears out of no where and tackled me. Im not saying they chased me down from behind literally appeared from no where.

? They have their own forums. Absolutely no obligation to post here? You can argue it would help sales, but then they have to deal with trolls, opposition etc here. Can fully understand why they’d wanna keep it in-house in their own forums

Yep people listing legitimate bugs and glitches with the game is absolutely trolling, it's like someone is insulting your family with how defensive you're getting over people not enjoying the game.

It's the new normal. Radio silence in this day and age is a huge red flag. I'm super excited about upcoming Big Ant productions simply because Ross is here interacting with the community on a daily basis.

There's no reason you can't check in with your target community a few times a week at least

One is stuck in the past and the other understands the reality of modern business.

Digital marketing 101 (all marketing for that matter) dictates that you need to be where your prospective customers are.

You're right they have no obligation to be here. Unless they want what is best for their business.

The community will take care of the trolls and will see a business trying to foster a positive relationship.

Big Ant used to draw all sorts of criticism. The same criticism WW is taking now. That changed when Big Ant demonstrated that they were consistently here to support their product and give their customers the best experience possible.

I used to work in PR and feel there should be some WW presence in here not just to answer queries but to monitor feedback. It is important to make your self visible and communicate, you may not give a shit about some comments as they will be pure bollox but many people will provide valuable feedback. It doesn't have to be the top people but WW can, and should, employ a social media person to be a presence on all these forums to soak up the feedback and report back to the development team on useful info. @wickedwitchstudios this tag doesn't work, BigAntStudios this tag does so goes to prove who has presence and who doesn't but doesn't ultimately mean they don't care. Just means they are more social media savvy and open. Has anyone checked how 'in date' WW's Facebook page is?
