Glad to help - the shame is that you really didn't need to delete your save file, hopefully you backed it up?
Unfortunately not, but good to know for any future patches - though hoping I don't have to do this same jig every time the game is patched.
Surely this isn't normative practice?

Anyone noticed any changes with set shots ?

I took a shot at goal with Jesse Hogan, wind was going left to right and I hit the green on the timing meter, the kick kinda wobbled to the left though (which was the direction I flicked the stick in)

Nope. First thing I checked. Need to play with house rules otherwise it’s hard to miss.

Gee look at that, a developer on a forum doing a rival’s QA...
Did you even read what he said to do? You think clearing the cache on a person's Xbox is the job of WW's QA department?

Well, actually it is. They told him to delete his save file - he didn't need to do that, that should never be the first thing you try, and in any case you would always advise how to back the file up.

As it worked, it's almost 100% that the game had an incompatible mismatch between the Cache and the update - as part of the patch update, as a developer, you should check that it isn't an issue - at least he can now play the game.... apologies for helping.

My biggest gripes post-patch:

- kicking through the goals after taking a defensive mark results in either a rushed behind or deliberate rushed behind.
- umpire yells "advantage" every time the ball goes out of bounds.
- user players will at times run straight past ground balls.
- AI teleport in front of user players from time to time to take possession first.
- AI don't seem to be affected equally by fatigue. I'm often run down during 2v1 (user advantage) foot races with the AI catching the second man after handballing ahead to him.
- it's almost impossible to tackle the AI if both they and the user are close to the ball and they gain possession. Your player is left grasping at air.
- often when tackled by the AI, the user will seemingly throw the ball directly into the hands of another AI player, sometimes consecutively. It's as if they're handballing to a teammate as they're tackling you.

These are the consistent issues that I've encountered seven games into a post-patch career mode. I'm still enjoying the game, but boy these problems are eating at me. At least I've been drama free off-field so far..

You seem have taken my comment as some how having a go at you. What the ****?

It's great that you helped him. And yes, it was bad advice to delete his saves, but the fix was still local.

Got a thread going for specific commentary issues. The ‘advantage’ one is mentioned in there.

If anyone else finds specific issues (not just bad stitching), chuck a video and description in that thread.

As for the ‘deliberate’, that is mentioned here, with a little workaround you can use in that situation mentioned in the description.

Oh yes
That third one is REALLY annoying me
and yes, the AI seem to have this strange ability now to teleport and seem to gain 5 metres in one step

Can anyone explain the following?

In career, as a FF, the FB sprinted away from me at the centre bounce following a goal. Then there was a stoppage immediately after resulting in the repositioning of players, and all of a sudden I'm alone on the 50 line, and the arrow shows my direct opponent more than 100 meters away in his own forward pocket. This happened three times in a row.

these are the ones that i've been having major a problem with. particularly the ai making hand passes (sometimes they're REALLY ridiculous.. like the ai making wayward 10 metre "passes" after i've tackled the player in possession) mid tackle. other than those bugs, i'm pretty satisfied with the first patch. game still plays solid with ptrg's sliders. although i'm still wary about starting another career mode save. don't want to sink time in only find out the next set of patches make my saves "obsolete" post patch again.

Exact same things I've been seeing too. Have you posted this list up on their forums? They are usually pretty good at replying.

Yes - took a set shot 20m out directly in front. Nailed it in the middle of the green section. Went left. I was stunned. Only happend once though!

Hold up. They have added an arrow to show where your direct opponent is now? As in in the My Player mode?

god I hope this is a new thing (with regards to vs AI play). Sick of nailing green and it always sailing through (once you allow for wind).

I’d take random “error“ based on the players individual goal kicking ability stats, or otherwise, if you don’t nail exactly dead centre, some variation/small error is introduced into the kick.

Shouldn’t be an all or nothing affair (either gunbarrel straight, or out on the full) like it is with a fast meter (which is required due to goal kicking being too easy by default)

I'd have thought set shots would be one of the easier things to get right. The fact that there isn't even a natural draw to any kick speaks volumes about the depth or lack thereof they went to. It's like ported set shots from a mobile game. Perhaps being a bit harsh, but it's frustrating given how much better shots could be if they just added natural arcs to kicks and more variable results like you stated.

The AFL 2007 goal kicking was pretty cool, where there was a mini game with goals and the harder the shot, the smaller the goals were. They had it for on-the-run shots too which was a bit difficult.

Even if the goal kicking remained as it is now but had a mechanic (similar to 2K with free-throws) where their goal kicking rating then determined the likelihood of it going in, I'd be happy. E.g getting it in the green and straight, the player has a 80 rated set shot so there's an 80% chance it goes in.

What I've been doing in the meantime is just using X to kick for goal in stead of entering the set shot animation.
