The problem with wicked witches ball mechanics is the ball is way too unpredictable. Irl ball physics are much more predictable and will only have a funny bounce if you shank it or hack it forward. Any straight end over end kick will bounce the same direction it’s travelling in.anyone else think the ball physics could be a bit better?
for example the ball hardly ever bounces backwards off the ground and when the ball is kicked forwards it just rolls off quickly and keeps going. Other times it's ok. Possibly a hard aspect to get right in AFL games, the random movement aspect of an oval shaped ball. Much easier with a round shaped ball. In Evolution it could be better. But again, i say this in regards AFL Live 1 and the recent Evolution titles, considering this is not 2K making these. These local game studios have done a superb job creating something modern and at a high level. I think if 2K had a go at it, no doubt some aspects would be very clean and well crafted, possibly better animations, but i'm not so sure they'd be that much better at the gameplay physics overall. NBA2K took many iterations of upgrades to get to a very realistic level. I think i'm not the only one that would be curious to see a modern Big Ant version of an AFL game.
Don’t agree with this. I wouldn’t want any less “randomness” than that is already in the game. I actually enjoy the variable bounce, as sometimes if hurts you, but other times is goes in your favour. The problem with wicked witches ball mechanics is the ball is way too unpredictable. If you enjoy more power to you, it still isn’t realistic.Don’t agree with this. I wouldn’t want any less “randomness” than that is already in the game. I actually enjoy the variable bounce, as sometimes if hurts you, but other times is goes in your favour.
Question about dribble kicks - is it possible to Daicos “draw” them, or are they only straight line? Also, I think I remember reading the ability to kick snap or banana kicks on the run, but for the life of me cannot do them (although I effectively can achieve snaps by running sideways to the goal, and then quickly kicking a “goal” kick direction before my player turns
I was playing as Port and Justin Westhoff celebrated after kicking a goal this hasn't happened since 2007 so talk to me about realisticIf you enjoy more power to you, it still isn’t realistic.
Any tips on how to stop the AI just running the length of the field cos they have free players everywhere and who the hell knows where my defence is? Like several players can take several running bounces each and run into the easiest of goals they're so far in the clear. I can never get that free of my opponent.
I swear since the patch that's how 90% of the goals against me are scored.
Update 1.03 is now live for AFL Evolution 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with Nintendo Switch coming soon!
Included in this update:
- Various gameplay fixes such as players running over the ball and the ball shooting out oddly from tackles.
- Added preferred positions and preferred position ratings (when playing in a different position) to player lists and Team Management screens.
- Some Career issues addressed involving drafts, injuries and fixtures.
- New End-to-End Locked camera options.
- Umpires/commentators no longer saying "Advantage" when ball goes out of bounds.
And more!
As always, full patch notes available at https://www.wickedsports.com.au/community/afl-evolution-2/afl-evolution-2-1-03-patch-notes

What have you got your “stay on man” sliders at? (Mine are both at 0).
And in team tactics, have you got defensive, neutral or offensive?
It may also be due to run speed & endurance. I find that I use sprint far more than the “smart” AI, so with endurance’s set to equal, my players die in the arse much quicker.
As a result, I increase my endurance/decrease AIs, and I think I’ve also got a small running speed bump over the AI (I feel like this makes it more “even”)
I found it ever so slightly better but still poor, I'll give this patch a go but this is the last time I'm going to bother.Have the patches improved this game in any meaningful way or is the game horrible still?
Will give these a try, thanks!
Must admit I tend to hold down sprint … And still struggle to gain any sort of separation compared to what the AI can do. But I will look into sliders and tactics, mine will be whatever the default are as I tend to be quite conservative with changing them until the game is fully patched (cos I'm not sure if the issues I'm having are bugs that will be fixed or not).
Lost a tight game yesterday (pre-1.03 patch) and the AI's ability to get clear drove me nuts.
De-list one.Getting better. Might be half decent by the tenth patch.
I have two Sydney Stacks in my team.
Full game won't come to PC until they're finished beta testing on console. We're in June and still nothing about the PC release. Crazy.
Because people kept tagging him so he answered. Can anyone explain why BA is the largest contributor to this thread?
