Bought some tkts into the AFL reserve (MCG) and noticed guest passes had jumped from $41 last year to $60 for the Carl and Coll games thats pretty much a 50% increase and kids prices jumped from $10 to $18 (80%).
The Hawks game in RD 6 tkts were $50 adults (25% higher) and $15 kids (50% higher).

I believe this will reduce the amount of guest passes of previous years in the AFL reserve due to the hefty price increases...Is this a good thing? i think it will free up better seating....

Can anyone shed some light on what ticket prices are in the public area of the MCG with the AFL's new ticketing category, do people prefer the different pricing categories or just prefer like it was last year "one price"....
Finally for those who are club members what does it cost to simply upgrade to a reserve seat being a home game "GA member"...

They now have A, B and C grade games, all with different prices. For guest passes A grade works out a fair bit more as you discovered, B grade a little more, C grade is actually cheaper than 2013.

They now also have 2 prices for guest passes in the AFL reserve for each game, Q level is cheaper, this makes sense because previously they used to charge the same price no matter where the seat was.

Also noticed they whacked on a $2.50 transaction fee, this used to be free if you printed at home.

Thanx 4 that....yeah Cat C seating in the public reserve still good, so thats fine....
In the AFL reserve only Rear Q 'top deck" was cheaper by $6 (hawks game) but even front of Q sec 'top deck' was $50 for the game V the hawks.....For Rich V Carl and Coll top deck Q was still $60 at front (50% higher than 2013) and $45 at rear top deck (10% higher) than last year.....

I always print my own and its been FREE, bummer theirs a $2.50 charge but at least ticketek have compromised "charging $2.50" across the board, IE: ezytkt (print ur own), mobile tkt, regular mail and venue prick up....

You picked the higher price category. 45 is the cheapest afl members price

For me its fine and my fellow AFL Rich club support members as we only pay $7.50 to reserve a seat well we only reserve for the big games, other games just scan card and walk in....
On guest passes i didn't expect that much of an increase so im curious to see if it impacts on crowds in anyway as normally in the big games its sold out or close to sold out....

Looking at getting Anzac day tickets this year, and making the trip over the Melbourne (hold no memberships currently)
AFL website says this
"AFL is currently working in conjunction with the Government and other organisations with respect to some new initiatives around Anzac Day. The date of sale will be advised as soon as possible."

Anyone have an idea what they would be looking at differently?

Maybe they are looking at making it a 'declared event' the same as the GF, which means it is against the law to sell tickets above face value.
AFL members were able to buy tickets for that game this morning though, so not sure why they would hold off on other sales.

Buying a new milking machine of the money making variety. Think Grand Final day, less seats for the competing clubs !
