I’m still not convinced that Sam McClure is correct when he insists that Carlton are on the verge of greatness

This thread started out sooo hopeful ... with sunshine, rainbows, blue unicorns and monarch butterflies

Surely you just fold if you're Carlton?
Haven had any impact since the AFL enforced the rules on cheating and, like Essendon, continue to make the same dumb mistakes.
I dont think its that simple in terms of hitting the draft hard for Carltom because with father/sons and then academy players they kinda wont need that many draft picks to gather young talent unlike what Richmond did. Cody Walker will probably be pick 1 next year so getting pick 10 for Sam Walsh isnt gonna do much for themCollapsing harder than the Australian economy. Might be time to sell off the handful of stars that still have currency and hit the draft hard like Richmond did. the sad thing is they'll probably still beat us in a few weeks.
Can happen. They'll just do what every club does, reload and go again. It's hard to believe this thread is only 12 months old. At the same Round last year, Carlton were sitting 2nd on the ladder, 6 points clear of third and equal favourites for the flag (miles in front of 3rd favourite).
It's hard to fathom how quickly the wheels have fallen off.
Easier said than done. Can happen. They'll just do what every club does, reload and go again.
Easier said than done.
Carlton now has to decide whether to trade its champions for high draft picks and know the next 5-10 years will be in the wilderness, or hope a change in coach and senior management is all that is needed.
Sure. These things happen. No point going overboard worrying about them. Cop the disappointment for the week and move to the next one. It's hard to believe this thread is only 12 months old. unfortunately, it’ll likely need all three.Easier said than done.

They are gone for this year, and are looking at 3+ years in the wildernessGive the Blues overall performances this year, and I know I'm going to look very foolish disagreeing with the insightful and deeply knowledgable Sam McClure, but I'm not entirely convinced they are.
