Only the players, also working away from home is a part of lifedid the families of our blokes go? How long were our players there for?

Were there people dying in record numbers in the old Trafford and ageas bowl hotels?
I very much doubt the fear of death is much of a factor for what any team decides. What is up for consideration is how long they have to spend I quarantine and how long that means they’ll be away from their families.
I applaud outfits like the warriors in the NRL who have basically been away from home all year. But you can’t force people to do it.
Australia were happy to pull the pin on their trip to SA

This is what annoys me, those same players will probably be happy to go over to Asia again for the third iteration of IPL in less than 12 months, while they complain about coming out to Australia that has practically no covid compared to these other countries. I doubt families are allowed to go to the IPL, but they're not kicking up a fuss about that. And England players play much more than any other test nation. Even now, they're in biosecure bubbles, so they're not going home on weekends to see their families. I think a lot of this has been brought on by the ECB's ridiculous scheduling and greed, but I totally understand the reluctance of individual players.
I know that for the "Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie, oi, oi, oi" crew they won't care but if it ends up being Australia vs. England B, that'll be sh*t.

Yeah because they were getting 20k cases a day and their was a legitimate health riskWere there people dying in record numbers in the old Trafford and ageas bowl hotels?

Travelling is part of you job as a cricketer, many blokes would die for the opportunity to play in the ashes. Blokes these days are so spoiled it’s actually embarrassing

There's another 3 alone playing this test match for England who went to the IPL.Actually hardly any of them go to IPL and play tests. Only Buttler and Stokes, really.
Mate it’s pathetic from them, a bunch of overpaid sooks. I would happily quarantine to go overseas but am not allowed. If they don’t play they should forfeit the ICC funding they are due to get this yearOk mate. Enjoy the quarantine measures in the ivory tower.

Mate everyday people lucky to be earning a quarter of what these blokes are earning have gone without seeing family for 18th months yet they still front up to work each day. It’s actually an embarrassing moment in English cricket thisYOU would. You. That’s tremendous.
Other people aren’t willing to do it for that long without their family around.

I am not talking about FIFO workers, I am talking about every day people who have had the borders shut on them isolating them for their families who have then missed weddings and funerals.Yeah and every day people turn down money so they don’t have to. Not everyone in the workforce is a FIFO or shift worker and that’s one of the primary reasons.
why you’re so intent on judgement for something that is a personal choice is flabbergasting

The point is they still front up and go to work all day they don’t sook about their situation or not being able to see their family.Yes and they don’t get a choice. It’s law. What are you going to do mate, make a law that cricketers HAVE to tour somewhere?

You say this, but I could imagine if you had to travel to the UAE & England for a continuous four-month stretch, keeping yourself cooped up in hotel rooms the entire time & sending a quick cheerio to your family & children on Christmas Day via zoom, your tune might have slightly changed by the end of it. Yes, cricketers get paid a decent amount of coin. They are professionals & it is their livelihood. The money they earn is generated by viewers such as yourself who tune in to watch the games. I get the those dastardly Poms are "the enemy", but they're also human beings.Mate it’s pathetic from them, a bunch of overpaid sooks. I would happily quarantine to go overseas but am not allowed. But then they'll contradict themselves and go over and play IPL again, and all of a sudden they don't care about family. The IPL has already been shut down because of their bubbles not being stringent enough. CA shouldn't have to cancel the Ashes because the English sooks, don't want to come over but are happy going to places where covid is rampant. Credit to the ECB for doing all they can to ensure the series will go ahead with a full strength England lineup.
The IPL runs for less than two months. The World T20 plus Australia tour equals four months in total. There's no equivalency here. No-one is "sooking" & no-one is "happy" travelling to covid-affected parts of the world. But then they'll contradict themselves and go over and play IPL again, and all of a sudden they don't care about family. The Ashes start December 8 and finish January 18, so if you add 2 weeks quarantine and a week prep, that is only 2 months, which is less than the IPL. The Ashes are played here once every four years meanwhile the IPL is an annual event and this will be the third attempt at an IPL in the last 12 months. If you add in all the quarantine measures then you'd be up to nearly 5 months of the last year, spent by players playing IPL, but for some reason they aren't moaning about their family not being able to go.The IPL runs for less than two months. We've been into this pandemic for over a year now & you're still questioning the mental toll all of this is taking on athletes around the world?
If those non IPL players don't want to come then that's on them and its their choice. But it's frustrating when you've got those IPL players that complain about the measures here, but don't complain about the measures in UAE for another iteration of IPL.Sibley doesn’t play IPL
Burns doesn’t play IPL
Root opted out of the 2021 IPL
Hasib Hameed doesn’t play IPL
Mark Wood opted out of the 2021 IPL
James Anderson doesn’t play IPL
Ollie Robinson doesn’t play IPL
Stuart Broad doesn’t play IPL
Zak Crawley doesn’t play IPL
Dan Lawrence doesn’t play IPL
The only regulars in the England team who do are Stokes, Bairstow, Buttler and Curran. The IPL doesn’t run across holiday season. Bairstow and Curran don’t have children.
